Great course
This course presents a good challenge for all levels. Lots of elevation changes and multi-tiered greens.
The course is beatiful with deer and other wildlife in abundance.
Goin back again
The course has been overseeded and the rye grass is growing. Greens rolled true. Slow uphill but downhill was a differant story. Staff doing their best to blow leaves around so you can find that one tee shot that missed the fairway.Well worth the drive to play this gem!!!
Birthday Round
Challenging and pretty course. Greens were in excellent condition.
Very nice design
Tough course...however, I enjoyed it...I would recommend it to others
I fell for the FAlls
Wow What a find. Well worth the trip. Would love to fish in some of those lakes. Great layout. If you played a course like this every week you would become a better golfer. Love this course
Not 5 star quality but a solid 4!
My rating and comparison is against a perfectly well maintained course (a true 5 star) not something above average. On this site 5 stars are handed out like candy on Halloween.
The course during our round was in good condition. The fairways were a bit long so no roll out off the tee, but the condition was solid with few bare spots. There is no fringe or second cut of ruff and in some areas vertical cutting is not performed to save costs. The edges of bunkers are not edged well but the few played had a proper amount of sand and firmness. They were properly maintained so not fluffy or hard as clay.
Local knowledge helps for anyone with average to above average distance off the tee. A few doglegs and short layups require correct club selection and angles off the tee.
The greens were in very good condition. The course apparently receives less than average traffic as dead spots and holds from inconsiderate golfers not fixing their ball marks is minimized. The greens were cut fair, filled in nicely, and have average speed (not too fast or too slow). The greens have good variation throughout the course with some relative flat sloping back to front, and some having good undulations and slopes. There is a good amount of variation.
The views on the front nine are excellent and the feel of seclusion and isolation does exist provided traffic is slow. At times we felt as if playing on our own private course.
The club house was meant to be high quality with The Falls subdivision nearby but the area has not filled in with homes due to the isolation of the area. Thus the club house and bathrooms have been allowed to deteriorate. During our visit the men's locker rooms actually had a very bad odor.
This was our first time to play and we thoroughly enjoyed the day and the round. The drive was about one hour from west Houston so I personally wouldn't make the drive regularly, but I will probably play the course again at some point.
Very nice experience
Great course. Not a bad hole on the course. Very good condition and the staff was very nice. I drive two hours each way from Houston to play this gem. Will continue. Great price as well..
Solitude
Very relaxing round. Played as a single and barely saw another golfer. Worth the drive off the beaten path. If you plan a trip to Austin from Houston or vice versa, you should plan to stop and play a relaxing round on the way.
Great hidden gem.
Great course and price was excellent. Course is well maintained and very friendly. Location is in the middle of nowhere, but worth the drive!!
Keep it in the short grass
This was my 5th round at The Falls. It's always it very good shape. They had sanded the greens in the past month or so, but they were starting to come back, not too bad. But I wouldn't pay the premium round price, until the greens are better grown in. It's well worth the twilight or after 2pm price. Of course, it was a scorcher the day we played. Very little breeze at times, but we powered through and had a great round. Off the beaten path, but the experience.
wonderful day
Had a great time. Pace of play was good. Course is in great shape. Highly recommend this course.
Excellent
Lush fairways and good greens. Best course I've played in the Houston-ish area. Way in the middle of nowhere.
day trip
awsome course well maintained . bit of a drive from houston, but a great value. not much to do in the local community, so plan acordingly
Awesome Experience
This was a fantastic experience. I had played The Falls years ago. What a treat it was to play it again. The course is very difficult with tons of bunkers, tough intermediate rough, and elevation changes all over. The fairways were in pristine condition, like walking on a rug. The greens had been sanded but still rolled fast and true. I was amazed at the great condition of the course even in late July. My neighbor and I paid $27 from Golf Now, which was a steal.
A Gem
This is a hard but fair course!!
Far away from everything witch is part of the charm
Worth the Drive
The Falls is a great golf getaway,if you are a serious golfer.
Another hot and sunny day in TX
Buy a distance book if you plan to count an accurate score, many blind shots and no markers on the tee box to the water hazards. Fairways and greens were great. Edges of greens starting to burn out while the front of the greens are dirt now. It is a great course
This course is a hidden treasure.
First time to play the falls and can't wait to go back. Course was manicured from tee to green. Best course I've played this summer!
This is a great course.
I love playing the falls. It is difficult and challenging. but a beautiful well manicured course. It is so peaceful and quite and one of my favorite courses to play. Thanks to golfnow for allowing me to purchase a great deal on a round of golf at a great course.
Awesome course for price
It had just rained the day we played and we still were able to play no problem. Very challenging course and a lot of beautiful scenery. Great course for the price you pay!
