Lots of ground under repair on every fairway. This was one of the better ones. Photo submitted by Ken9948006 on 03/27/2023

Good Course
The first time playing this course and I was very surprised. Only negative was the rough was too high.
H20
Today me and 65 young friend played today and we were happy to see that there was plenty of very nice set ups. I remember 3 or 4 that had water coolers and paper cups . But it was jus a mirage because the first cooler had hot water and the rest were empty.
Carts were to slow and the backing up when your in a space ur not supposed to be is overwhelming.
First time since the refurbishment
Course was in great shape. Fairways and rough had plenty of green grass. Greens rolled true, the recent aeration worked. Love the updated course! Plays much better and it appears most of the drainage issues have been addressed. Will return again.
Iron
Course is in great condition, staff was excellent, pace of play was the only downside since it was so hot today. Lot of older players seemed like they melted and just stopped in the fairway. Besides pace it was great. Had a burger and beers after, food here is always good!
Haven't played here in 6 years, I wasn't sure what to expect with the recent changes. Everyone that we came across that was associated with Iron Horse was extremely courteous, and outgoing. The beverage cart was around every 3 or 4 holes which was nice as well. Course was in great shape, but you will probably be penalized for not hitting the fairway, as the rough is THICK. Overall a great morning at Iron Horse.
Better
Having first played the course >a month ago, the experience was better at the least because of familiarity with the surroundings.
The tee boxes are less difficult to plant a tee into, as I recall this only happening on one hole. The beverage cart dropped by 2-3x. The GPS-enabled carts will stop or slow you down when you get well off the fairway or cart path.
Bathrooms (in the physical form of a train car) are present in the #7/#10 tee box area as well as to the left of the green on #15. They remain spacious.
For my twosome, a $20 voucher was utilized. There is a putting green near #1 tee, another putting green near the clubhouse, and a driving range.
Compared to other courses I've rated, missing the fairways can be penal. The greens did have a punched feel about them.
only issue was the rough was really thick. If you hit your ball in the rough, it would take a while to find the ball
Nice course Good Value
Ironhorse is a great course. Nice layout and not too long for average golfers. Course is in good condition and staff is friendly and helpful. Give Ironhorse a try.
Lay out was different.
The lay out was different. U- turns and going back through the same holes. But it was a beautiful course. Greens were unforgiving.
Great condition
This course is in very good condition
Great greens smooth and kinda quick
Great shape, money invested during Covid worth it
Greens rolled very true and I was pleasantly spruced with the overall shape of the course
Meh
Nice course, poor up keep. Pace of play was slow because at least for my group we had to look for every ball that didn’t land on the fairway. They didn’t have any carts available so we were 10 minutes late starting. Slow pace of the play meant we had one of our party that had to leave on hole 14. Only saw the beer cart twice in 4 hours. Two holes line up beside each other and are cart path only. It slowed down play and is not marked cart path only
Middle Six
The tee boxes in the middle six holes in particular are difficult to plant a tee into. Fairways were in good shape.
The course ranger was predominantly present for the front nine; the beverage cart dropped by frequently.
I don't recall an excessive amount of "cart path only" holes.
Bathrooms (in the physical form of a train car) are present in the #7/#10 tee box area as well as in the middle of the back nine. They are spacious.
For my twosome, a $5 voucher was utilized.
There is an automatic water bottle filling machine in the clubhouse between the men's and women's bathrooms. There is a putting green near #1 and a driving range.
There are decently placed signs instructing you where the next hole is. Unfortunately, there is no course map on the scorecard.
I do hope that the yardages the GPS provides are accurate. It can be difficult to find the ball in the rough.
#7 & #10 each involve a carry over the water twice.
Sounds like hitting the ball in the fairway would help your pace of play. Or, by rule, you have only 3 minutes to find it. Also sounds like your friend has more of a scheduling issue than a slow play issue. And lastly, if seeing the beverage cart only twice was an issue, maybe you should stick to Mario Brothers at the pub.
