Osprey Point Golf Club - Hawk/Falcon Course
About
Located in South County Regional Park, Osprey Point Golf Club offers the first course in Florida to be designated as an Audubon International Classic Signature Golf Course. You would never be able to tell from looking at it now, but the site was farmland before it was used for shellrock mining and then abandoned. The landscape had been overgrown but the Parks and Rec Department of Palm Beach County transformed it into a lush and scenic course. The golf course is a 27-hole layout that can be played in three different 18-hole combinations. All of the tees, greens, and fairways feature environmentally friendly Seashore Paspalum. The Hawk/Falcom combination has a gently rolling landscape enhanced with native vegetation. The elevation changes are subtle but they still provide a few tricky lies.

Excellent practice facility!
Had a three day golf trip from Pennsylvania. Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club (Great course) and Normandy Shores (Absolute disappointment - see review).
Cant say enough how much we enjoyed our day at Osprey Point. First off the staff was very friendly and helpful. The practice area was to die for. We just don't see practice areas like this where we live in PA (and we have some great courses in eastern Pa and NJ). The driving range was large with grass tees , There was a huge putting green with an absolutely perfect surface where we couldn't find a single blemish. There was a large sand trap to practice out of and a chipping green where you probably had enough room to drop back and hit shots from 70yards. If I lived here I would take advantage of this practice area weekly.
The course offers three nines and it seems to be pretty organized. We were teamed up with an older couple from North Jersey and they played great. John hit the pin on a par 3 and his wife Mary was compressing the ball and pouring in putts, they were great.
The course is right along the Everglades so we saw our share of wildlife but no gators although I guarantee they are lurking near by. We ventured in to some bushes to look for wayward shots and we heard something with some weight moving around and we got out of there.
The greens were perfect, fast and challenging. Course was tight in areas but not overly tight for a couple of guys who have big two way misses,
This is how golf should be, preferred it over the high priced country club surrounded by 10 million dollar homes and Normandy Shores was one of my 3 least favorite rounds of golf due to the outrageous non resident greens fee and BRUTAL pace of play.
I really wish we came back and played a different combo of nines in lieu of Normandy Shores.
Great course
Got a chance to play Osprey Point again while in the area on vacation. It is a great public course. You will have to check frequently to get the tee time you want. It stays rather busy. I played the Hawk and Falcon 9s and really enjoyed them. The Hawk was more open and the Falcon was tighter and more of a shot makers layout. Both sides were in great shape from tee to green. The greens were awesome. Smooth and nice pace. Very interested layout. And some visually deceiving holes. Especially on the Falcon 9. As general public I paid $99 plus range balls. But for the layout and conditions I thought that was a decent deal. Overall. Well worth it if you are in the area and can score a tee time.
Whuuuuut! Bang! Spot on!
Everything about this course screams
Awesome. The course is worth every penny and the layout is fantastic.
Great but not cheap
I guess you pay for what you get. This course was really nice with awesome practice facilities. It was in great condition and was a lot of fun. I do think at $98 it was a little high.
course is nice staff is horrible
I have been playing this course for several years and in spite of the terrible customer service and draconian rules at the pro shop, driving range and starter I continued playing due to the beautiful scenery and good course conditions I continued to play the course. Unfortunately that time has past, over the past year the course condition has deteriorated due to over play and poor maintenance. In addition, it has become tiresome when you pay the high price to play and then get treated by the staff like they are doing you a favor by letting you play the course. To make matters worse the ever changing over the top rules prior to playing do make it out onto the course with zero enforcement of pace of play turns what should be a relaxing 4 hour afternoon round into a 5 1/2 hour agonizing marathon. That is of course if they don't kick you off the course 30 mins before sunset because they want to close. It truly is a shame they have let such a gem become so bad. If you have a choice and play somewhere else.
Beautiful and well maintained
We totally enjoyed playing this course. It’s challenging yet rewards you for great shots. It’s beautiful and extremely well maintained..the people in front of us were very slow but the ranger told them to pick up the pace. Definitely a great course to play!
Golfing PBC
Everyone was very helpful. Checking in / access to range - all went smoothly. Pace was perfect! Course in great condition.
Beautiful course
Really liked this one. Fantastic layout and the conditions were superb.
Great layout
Range was closed and cart part only because of heavy rain, but that didn't take away from the excellent condition of the golf course. Greens were a little bit slower than I remember but the overall experience was excellent. Can't wait to go back
Good Vibrations
A pleasure to get out on one of SFL better courses available to JohnQ Public. Full parking lot Midday didn’t portend the speed of play. Finishing at or around 4 hrs,was a pleasant surprise as was the simple hellos given by the various rangers seen throughout the afternoon. Recommend playing with someone who may know where some of the holes are for direction to go in because you can’t always see that. Ice and cups are available as needed . Just remember to close the lid, Golfers, to keep the ice frozen and by all means please continue to take care of the course. It’s a rare golfing option out here!
It sounds like you've already planned your next golf trip. ;)
This is one heck of a review and we are so very thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your experienced with us so much. Next time you look to escape the cold of Pennsylvania, we'd love to have you at Osprey Point.
