Riviera Maya Golf Club - Championship Course
About
Riviera Maya Golf Club has been ranked as one of the top five golf courses in Mexico. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., the Championship Course winds through lush Mayan jungle. Natural lakes also dot the scenic landscape. Being so close to the ocean, wind definitely comes into play, especially on the tough par-3 second hole, which plays directly into the prevailing winds. If you are able to keep your shots in the fairway, you'll surely be rewarded with a good lie and a challenging, but fair approach. Jones carefully carved the golf course from the deepest part of a limestone quarry, spreading the fairways across treacherous jungle growth that is just waiting to swallow up errant shots. In addition to the championship layout, there is also an Executive Course that is one of the best nine-hole golf courses in the Rivera Maya.

great golfing
We had a perfect golfing week played 6 games. The staff, course, weather all wonderful. You are treated very well. The fact we can leave our clubs huge. Bevy cart always there for lots of water. We keep returning because it is always first class. Thank you all
PGA review
The course was in decent shape and I felt I got a good deal with my greens fees.
I did have to rent clubs and the irons/woods were awesome. But the putter was horrible. The grip should have been changed 2 years ago! For the cost of the rental set that was ridiculous to have that in the bag.
Awesome Riviera Maya Golf!!!
The course is gorgeous and was in such terrific shape that it was a great day of golf. The staff were all very friendly. The fairways and greens were really professionally manicured and as nice as any course I have played anywhere. I would definitely play this course again, and even at a rate of $160 it was so much better than many other courses in the area that I have played over the years that for the Riviera Maya I think it is a must play. The only issue some may have is that the course is not very forgiving once you are out of the fairway. The sides of fairways are often crowned and will kick errant shots into the jungle and you won't find them. So if you are not hitting it straight, you can lose a lot of balls. There is also a fair amount of water on many holes that again can claim a lot of balls if you are not on your game. But again, it is such a beautiful course, even on a rocky ball striking day it would be hard to have a bad time there.
Really Good Course!
Really nice course in great condition. Very pretty with a variety of holes, but it was not too tough which made it fun. It was beautiful with a variety of holes including some with cenotes as well as lakes. Lots of wildlife around as well. Greens were in great shape as well as the fairways.
If you are complaining about this course- that’s you’re problem
I’ve read the negative reviews and I disagree with most. Course if a great layout but difficult. Play the White tees if it’s too hard for you. More than one cart girl would have been a bonus but my group only drank water (except me) so maybe people on a All inclusive trip may not want to spend extra money on the course anyway.
Course was in good condition and similar to most good Florida courses.
I also had no issues with my GolfNow reservation and staff was attentive and helpful.
Showed up and told no tee time
They dont answer the phone. Be careful when booking this course on golfnow. Had golfnow call ahead, supposedly confirmed. Showed up and told us we couldn’t play. Unbelievable.
these guys just don't care
Nice course. Played Weds Fri & Sun. They messed up (discarded/ignored...) my tee time (Golf Now Hot Deal) 2/3 days. Might as well just use a ball rack system. No apologies. Blamed Golf Now. "Come back in 2 hours - we'll get you in. " They don't care.
Must drop your bag at front of pro shop, then, after check in, pick it up again and carry it around the back of the building to starter (why not bring a cart to the front for you?) They don't care.
Cart girl ? Once a round. They don't care.
Marshal on course? Hah!
5-somes in front of you? check
6 hour round ? check
To be honest I feel Golf Now should share some of the blame here but this place was torturrous.
Tough track
Good value for the area. Fun, tough course to play. you will want to do the replay. Bring plenty of balls because the jungle will swallow them.
Not Up To PGA Standards - IMO
With the PGA name tagged onto this course, we thought it would be in much better condition. The course was beautiful, but a little rough around the edges. The difficulty of the course was about what we expected, but, again, could have used some TLC. The course was overbooked, with several groups slated at the same time as us, so lots of confused players at the first tee. Good rental clubs, but things not clearly laid out - thankfully we were paired up with a regular patron.
