About
Situated just minutes from Playa del Carmen, the Gran Coyote Golf Riviera Maya (formerly known as Grand Coral Riviera Maya) snakes through dense Mayan jungle with scenic glimpses of the Caribbean Sea throughout. The designer, Nick Price, laid heavy emphasis on having the most minimal environmental impact as possible while still providing a fair and challenging round. He even employed a team of biologists and environmental consultants to determine how to minimize water consumption and protect the native wildlife. Price carefully preserved and incorporated the native vegetation into the golf course so that it blends seamlessly into the beautiful surroundings. The dense jungle comes into play along the fairways, requiring some accuracy to maneuver or else you'll surely lose a ball. Water hazards come into play on several holes and there are also strategically placed bunkers lurking near the greens.

Gran Coyote in rainy season
Rainy season, so it’s hit or miss. Today was a home run Dodged the torrential downpours of past two days and amazing how quickly the course is playable. They have made great strides over past two years. Greens were smooth and true rolling. Marshals were most attentive I’ve ever seen (only 5 rounds here)

Amazing course and staff!!!
Played this course for the first time today and will be booking round 2 in 2 days this evening! Challenging but forgiving course. Rental clubs are higher end amd in great condition. Staff was very accomodating and friendly. Looking forward to round 2 amd maybe even 3 if we can squeeze it before departure!
Super nice conditions challenging but fair
One of the nicest courses I've ever played. A bit pricy but golf now hot deal and points made it very reasonable. Rental taylormade clubs in good shape. The heat and humidity was intense take it easy and frequent rest helps. Staff is extremely attentive I felt like a VIP.

Awesome course Great design ,tough but fair and really fun to play. Great staff and tacos at turn were fantastic.
Great Course
This is the first time I have played this course, I can promise it will not be the last. Beautiful course and extremely well maintained. Lots of water and sand traps, really make you think and position your ball in the right place. My only complaint is that the greens are very firm. I hit some great shots onto the greens only to have them roll off the back. The staff was super friendly and bilingual. I highly recommend this course.
Save your money
Every other hole was being watered and most had maintenance being done .. workers didn’t stop or turn off equipment... then had to wait as all the staff and I mean everyone was at the putting green playing some game.. I did mention the terrible experience but nothing was said or done.
Exceptional value
Fairways were in great shape, greens were receptive and rolled true. Pace was perfect and staff was friendly and attentive. Tacos from the barbecue outside we’re the perfect end to a great round.
Gran Coyote A++
If you're in the play del carmen area this course is a must. The course conditions were excellent and staff was very friendly and helpful. I looked at the surrounding courses and this looked to be the best next to Mayakoba. For the special golfnow hot deal price, you cant beat it.
an unexpected pleasure
Booked the course based on GolfNow reviews and it more than lived up to expectations. Great value, played the round in less than 4 hours with 2 real gentlemen from Texas and Tennessee.
Excellent putting surfaces
I was quite impressed by the smooth rolling greens at Gran Coyote especially for the price. The staff was so friendly I decided to return a couple days later to hit unlimited range balls for $20. My brother and I highly recommend this course!

The course was an excellent shape, it was a terrific layout played the course three times in three days staff was excellent.

Awesome course with fast greens. Great staff and 5 star facility.
Everything about the course and the treatment by the staff was excellent. The only (and they are minor) shortcomings — the balls on the range are old and should be refreshed; there is no practice sand trap; the rental clubs are old and need to be updated.
