The rough
Way too deep rough. Lost 4 very good drives and never could find my ball.
Beautiful course
The course was in very good shape and challenging. It is fairly hilly, but did not have a bunch of difficult lies if you stayed in or near the fairway. The greens were in good shape and had some really challenging reads. The undulations were fun and they putted very true.
Pace of ply
They were having amens league outing and no consideration for people paying top money to play!! There several foursomes in front that wouldn’t let faster players play through!!
Labor Day Golf
It’s been a while since we’ve played the course and was slightly disappointed on the maintenance of the course, the greens had burn marks and it looked like someone wore cleats and dug into the greens, the fairways weren’t maintained and the roughs were rough, love the course, price was great but don’t know what happened to the grounds keeper
Expectations were high and came away slightly disappointed
Nice, but overplayed.
GB is an awesome public course, however because of its popularity it is overplayed. The pace of play is much slower compared to other surrounding courses, but that's to be expected. I usually play here once every couple months for a change from my home course. I do recommend this to anyone wanting to play in Richmond, however don't expect an 18 hole round under 3.5 hours.
A day at gibson bay
Very courteous staff, excellent chicken salad sandwich and the golf course was in fantastic shape, especially the greens. Will definitely play again!
Gibson Bay is awesome
I’ve played Gibson since the mid-90s and it remains one of my favorite courses, if not my favorite course, of all the courses in a 25 mile radius of Lexington. The tee boxes are in good shape, the fairways are beautiful and spongy, and the greens are fast and true. And no matter how hard of some of us may try, ur not gonna hit a house playing Gibson Bay. There’s numerous courses in, and around, Lexington that charge close to the same price, or even above, the price ur gonna pay at Gibson. Do urself a favor. Make the 18 minute drive from Hamburg and go play a beautiful course with a fantastic layout, that definitely has all the challenges and elevation changes and bends and water that u want in a Kentucky course. They just got done with a project where they created a nice size lake/pond that looks great now. I’m sure the new bridge area will be done soon as well. But I think it looks great compared to what it used to look like. Well done to whoever made that happen. Oh yeah, and the BBQ sandwich inside the pro shop is pretty dang good too.
Course is fun to play
Some construction, fairways and greens in good shape. For the price “excellent “.
Good value, challenging but fair, bring bug spray
Greens were average speed for a public track but rolled very well but were still soft and receptive - good reads are rewarded. Tees and fairways were in pretty good shape. Some tough and some gettable 3's, 4's and 5's. Great value though, I'd rank this up near Houston Oaks.
Only down side was the flies, I guess from Lake Reba. Bring bug spray.
