Gibson Bay Still Great
I had played this course many times but had not played in the last few years. Course was in great shape except for pitch marks on the greens. It is a shame that players don't fix their ball marks. This course is a challenge for most due to blind shots on several holes. It is not a simple course, but does offer some nice scoring opportunities. Very friendly staff and nice club house. You really can't go wrong playing here.
Lexington Area Gem
Headed to Chattanooga for a business trip, I decided to stop for a quick 18 holes at Gibson Bay. I got a very fast, 18 hole round (3 hours) for what felt like a steal. The courses of this quality in the Louisville area will cost you about $50. I'll definitely be back to the Lexington area for some golf.
Excellent experience
The course was beautifully maintained and challenging. Staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful. Loved playing there. The group in from of us was very slow and would not allow us (a twosome) to play through, however I do not blame that on the couse or staff, just a rude foursome. Check this place out asap!
A little disappointed
I played the course last year and it appeared the condition was not what I remember. Traps were not that well maintained and rough was high. The greens were a little slow and uneven.
City course
I live in Huntersville NC and play a lot of golf in the area. Gibson Bay is by far, for the price and layout, the best course. The staff is very friendly and the golf carts are clean and ready to go for your round. The greens are super slick and it seems with all the play it gets the golfers are fixing their divots. All I can say is what a great pleasure to come back to my home town and play a really nice golf course. Met a guy today that drove all the way from Louisville KY to play this course (130 mi one way).
Nice Views
Enjoy the course each time we play it which is couple times a season. Enjoy the view of Lake Reba, course is in good condition, and taken care of. Greens are lightening fast.
Great course
This is a very nice course to play. The course is in excellent condition from the tee box to the green. The staff is very professional and friendly.
Had fun
The course was in great shape for this early. Greens rolled true.
Fun course
Had a fun experience with this course greens were fast so it was some what of a challenge. Well kept as well.
Gibson Bay
My friend and I really enjoyed this course.
Winter Golf at Gibson Bay
Considering it's mid-March, rain earlier in the day and week, the course is in great shape. Tee boxes very good shape except the par 3's were a little rough, but to be expected coming out of winter. Greens were excellent, very well drained, the bunkers well maintained and conditioned. There are fields and Lake Reba surrounding the course, birds singing, ducks quacking, all producing a relaxing venue.
All time favorite course to play!
Middle of December and fairways are still green and plush. Best public course I've played. Professionally maintained year round.
One of the best
With out a doubt one of the best courses around. Course is always in great shape, pace of play can be slow sometime but other than that, should be top 10 on anyone's list, and a must play.
In Great Shape
Dec 6 In great shape Greens quick and smooth for this time of year. A little wet in spots.
Clubhouse folks are very nice.
Drove 2 hours to play and will be back
Beautiful course.
Gibson Bay is as good a course as you'll find in central Kentucky. The greens and fairways are always in excellent condition. The hills are challenging but still plenty of opportunities for birdies. The cost is also very affordable. Overall a tremendous amount of fun to be had there. I highly recommend trying this course if you haven't already.
Rolling hills
Several fairways are tight which require some good shot placement and the rolling hills adds to the information needed for some well played shots. The greens were challenging for both of us but we still managed to par several of them. I enjoy courses like this and fact that it's 30 minutes from Lexington is a bonus. The staff was top notch and even though our area has had very little rain for weeks the greens and fairways were good. We will be back for some more golf soon!
Perfect Day
Everything went off without a hitch! Great time and course was in good condition.
Very good course to play especially for the money
I paired up with another single and had great weather and we enjoyed the round very much. Pace was a little slow at times but not real bad.
great course, great time.
The course is challenging and in great shape. I had a great time and can not wait to play it again.
Carts
Where the course is rolling hills the golf carts have trouble getting around. So maybe better golf carts. But they take nothing away from the course itself. A great place to play.
