After the strom
The course was in good shape for after the snow, play was good things are getting green.
Poor pace of play and unfriendly staff
My dad and I decided to give this a try on a Sunday. We normally golf mid week and run into minor issues with pace of play. We have a good amount of patience — father son bonding time and what not so busy courses do not really bother us as long things are moving. We started golfing and the ranger said it’s packed which was pretty obvious since we could see all of the cars in the parking lot. We noticed there was a twosome ahead of us walking, which is fine. However in front of them was another twosome walking. Which created a huge delay every hole. Like I said, we enjoy spending time out on the course. But after the front 9, we decided to ask the staff if they could pair them as it was creating major back ups. Dylan, who was working there, making the tee times etc, (who was already unpleasant when we arrived early that morning to both my dad and I.) was rude and stated “what’s wrong with that”. Not once did apologize or offer a suggestion or try to solve the problem. He just brushed off the issue since it clearly doesn’t matter to him or the course that the pace of play was very slow. So after that little conversation, we ended our round after 9 holes. It’s not worth wasting another 3 hours to play 9 holes when most of that time is just spent waiting around.
If you want to spend all day at a golf course, come here. Just be sure you are patient and not expecting much service from the golf shop.
Also, do not golf here after it rains. The course does not hold water at all and is a slosh fest.
Unfortunately it’s probably the last time we golf here. Which is no skin off their back, because the same person (Dylan) booking tee times told someone on the phone to come on out and they can get right on — which was just not true.
Great shape for October
Excellent pace of play and fun course. Almost 6300 from the White tees so it’s a challenge.
Tanners Brook is our favorite course!
We have a great time whenever we golf at Tanners. Craig and Andrea have always been great hosts, and super accommodating. We play about 10-15 rounds a year there and enjoy the quality greens and pace of play. I highly recommend making Tanners you're go to local course, it's very family friendly and has nicely affordable greens fees.
Our tee time was at 11:36 and at 2 pm we were on 13th hole and were told we had to speed up or skip a hole. There was 3 of us and we felt we were doing fine. We then played from the gold tees and one player didn't play. Ranger came by and said great and everybody was happy. But when we left there were 5 carts still ready to tee off. Won't go back again.
Fun Course
Tanners Brook is a well designed and maintained golf course with excellent staff and pro. The course superintendent is one of the best in Minnesota. I always feel welcome at Tanners Brook. I recommend it to players of all skill levels. I am a 7 handicap and have played almost all the courses in Minnesota.
Highly Recommended
Tanners Brook is a great course! We have played Tanners early morning, mid day, evenings, weekends, weekdays it doesn't matter it's always a great experience. Greens are fast, fairways are in great shape, we love this course.
Great course for the money on Golfnow
Always a great course to play. Greens were in great shape as well as fairways. If there is any downside is the cart paths are bumpy.
One great improvement is the road is now paved from Highway 61 to the course.
Tuesday golf day
Nice links layout played blue tees plenty of challenge especially off the tee overall pretty solid course especially for $25.00 nice conditions played a little hard fast which was alright
The course has its own unique features.
The course was in excellent condition. It had rained all the day before so the ball didn't run as much. The greens held very well, especially from high approach shots. The greens are large and easier to hit than most courses near here. The fairways were lush and great to hit off of. This is a fun course to play. There are a lot of "rewards verses risks" situations. As an example there are a number of subtle dog legs that invite a shot to "cut" the dog leg, but if you miss there is knee high natural wild grasses lining the edges. Misses usually result in a lost ball. There is also a couple of creeks running across the fairways about 225 yards from the tee box. Another creek runs just in front of the green on hole 18. The four of us had a wonderful time. The rate of play was comfortable and the green fees are very reasonable.
Great condition
We were able to play 18 holes for $34 including cart. Awesome value for a course that was challenging without being frustrating. Greens were in extremely good shape - very challenging. Good shots are rewarded. Pace of play was just fine. Under 4 hours on a Friday.
We apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a a great pace when having our golfers on the course. Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback as we will use your review to better the experience going forward. Your review has been forwarded to the team. We hope you give us another try in the near future!
