Great Links Course
This is a well thought out design. It flows very well and there are no bottleneck holes. The course is a bit rough in areas but it is in a low lying area and lots of rain is not its friend.
Greens were aereated but did not cause any problems. Greens were receptive and putts rolled true. Greens were on the slow side today.
I could play this course every day from a different tee and enjoy each round. Great course overall.
A Great Thursday
Temperature was warm but plenty of opportunities for shade. Fareways have all come in and well mowed. Greens rolled well. Very accomodating staff. No difficulties with pace of play.
Wasioto Wins!!!
After playing here a few years ago we looked for an opportunity to return. With a day off and a great GolfNow Deal we drove 2 1/2 hours the night before to stay 15 minutes from our 8:30 a.m. July 4th tee time.
Upon arrival we were told we'd be paired with another twosome and that the morning fog had delayed tee offs. However, we were on our way just 5 minutes later than scheduled when the twosome didn't show up. Then on the 2nd tee we were waved on by a friendly foursome and by the 4th a threesome, so our wait had deminished enough to where we completed the round in just 3 1/2 hours.
Staff friendliness was displayed on at least two ocassions. On the 12th green a cart stopped and we were asked if we wanted our photo taken on the bridge just before the 13th tee. It would be with our own phone and there was no charge. The subsequent 5 minute photoshoot conveniently slowed us enough that we no longer had to wait on another threesome ahead of us. Then, later on the back another staff person came by with free cold water.
The friendly and accommodating staff is just one of WW's appeals. Add in majestic scenery , a challenging layout, well-maintained cart paths and bridges, and clean on-course facilities and you'll want to add this to your list.
Although it was hot and muggy we totally enjoyed our time at one of Kentucky's most picturesque state park golf courses.
We will be back!
Waisito winds
Course was made up of some short and some longer holes, some water on course but not in play that much, definitely would play again
The course is in the best condition I have seen.
Always friendly personnel at the desk to assist the golfers. Bermuda fairways have filled in very well this year with very few bare spots. Greens are well tended with moderate speed. Pleasant experience in playing.
Hidden Gem!
This was the second week in a row to play Wasiota Winds. The view of the mountains surrounding the course with the fall colors makes this a spectacular course. The greens are in excellent condition with a stimp speed of 9 or so. The fairways were sprigged with bermuda grass last summer and have filled in really good. From the back tees it is very challenging with several second shots over 200 yards. Even though it is almost a 90 mile drive I will be back at every opportunity.
A beautiful links style course in the mountains
This course needs to be played more than once to really appreciate it. The fairways are new and the greens roll great. It is cart paths only for a few more months, but it is worth the bit of extra effort. Holes 5 and 15 require very precise shots into the green or you will card a big number. Plenty of challenges to be found, but many holes have a bailout if you know the course. A very fun course and really great staff make this course one of the best in Kentucky to go play.
Very poor condition.
The course is in terrible condition as is with most of KY state park courses. Don't waste you money!!!
