Love playing this course
Always love playing this course. The tee boxes and fairways are second to none in the area. Greens were pretty bad, but thats what you get having bent grass around here. Was a very good day weather wise, so lots of people on course and pace of play was fairly slow. But would definitely recommend playing this course. Just wish the greens were in better shape.
The greens are in rough shape
This course is one of my favorites in Western Kentucky. Unfortunately, the greens, especially on the back nine, have fallen victim to the abundance of rain and heat we've had this summer. 7 greens on the back are basically lost at this point. The front is also spotty right now, but not lost. Other than the greens the course is in is typical great shape. Hopefully as the temps cool down the greens week be in much better shape. When they are decent I would highly recommend the course.
Nice course for the price, but greens are tired
The fairways are in great shape but greens are a bit beat up which is to be expected for August in the South. However, they have really good rates so hard to complain. Staff is always nice here and they have great grill if you want to call in and get something on the turn. We started mid afternoon and got behind several foursomes and one fivesome so pace was kind of slow.
Not feeling welcomed at Drake Creek on this Wednesday afternoon
Besides all critics below the course lay-out and fairways are good and challenging. The greens are very soft with lots of bad divots which make accurate putting very difficult.
But I did not feel very welcomed on this Wednesday afternoon. I've booked through Golfnow and was about 55 minutes early to my reserved tee-time. Because the course wasn't packed and lots of tee-times available this afternoon I was asking if I can play right away. The staff at the Pro-Shop said "no", if I wouldn't be willing to pay a surcharge in addition to my prepaid green fee. They showed me a list with prices, e.g. $10 extra if you are 30 minutes prior to your Golfnow reserved tee-time, $15 for 45 minutes and so on. After some minutes of discussions about "the club does not get any money from Golfnow" and "they don't care much if I even play, because I did not pay them directly" I ended up paying the requested surcharge. Later I found out, that hole 12 was closed for today, so my "double charged green fee" was good only for 17 holes.
Last trip
My son and I drove two hours to play this course. When we got there we were told the 12th hole was closed, due to repair. She advised the other greens were fine. All the greens are in very bad shape. Fairways and Tee Boxes were very nice. I would not recommend playing this course at this time.
Great value
Played it for $15 on golf now and it's worth at least double or triple that. Course was in great shape pace of play was a touch slow but it was really busy.
Nice layout and condition for the price
Nice layout
Good condition
Could be marked for layup shots better
Very friendly staff
nice
Enjoyed the round - weather was good for June - would play again.
Tee Times
Had a tee time scheduled for a threesome at 8am. No one showed up at the course until 9am. That let 3 golfers stand outside for an hour waiting for the course to open.
Highly Recommended
Drake Creek remains the nicest course by far in Wrstern Kentucky. The greens & fairways are in excellent shape.
First Time
This was my first time at the course and it's very nice. There are several challenging holes with water in play and very little margin for error. The condition of the fairways and greens is excellent.
I look forward to playing there again.
Beautiful golf course
The course was fair but challenging. The greens were in great condition and true. The staff was glad to have us there and couldn't have been more accomadating. Overall this was a very good golfing experience.
Not ready
Not really a fan of this course, but I like the food, and was looking for a cheap play. The greens were not ready, this is my favorite part of golf. So for me, not so good
Great Condition and wonderful Staff
A must if you are in this area - you won't be disappointed
