Situated in the beautiful Gypsum Valley, Gypsum Creek Golf Course is known as much for its beautiful views as it is for the challenging Pete Dye and Perry Dye design. The course is perched atop a sage-covered mesa that looks out across the surrounding Red Table Mountains. Though it may be tempting to be distracted by the views, the golf course requires full concentration. This tough layout features rolling fairways that are flanked on both sides with native pinion and juniper trees. The undulating terrain provides dramatic challenges including steep drop-offs and tricky twists and turns. There are several formidable holes at Gypsum Creek G.C. but one of the toughest is the par-5 sixth, which is the signature hole. Thanks to the prevailing winds, even the best golfers will have trouble making it in two.

Fun play

Fun play and good variety. The front 9 is fairly flat and water comes into play more than you think. Back 9 has more elevation changes and fairways a little narrower. Conditions overall were very good and clubhouse very nice. A good play if in the area.

Fun course

My little family and I were road tripping through the area and decided to stop and play and we're glad we did. We had a lot of fun on a nice course on a beautiful evening. The staff was extremely nice and friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The course was well maintained, but the bunkers need some work. Even though the par 3 17th is kind of a ridiculous hole going straight down the mountain, it was super fun to play. Pace of play was awesome. Will definitely be back.

Interesting

The routing of this course was really strange. It's almost as if Pete Dye had one idea for what he wanted to do for the first 13 holes or so and then completely changed his mind once he saw the mesa just west of the course. Very goofy and highly difficult at times, but can't complain about price. Could see myself playing there again under the right circumstances.

Goofy golf

No idea how this course gets great reviews. It has some very poor designed holes. #16 and #17 are terrible. #2, #10, #14, #15 are questionable. That makes for a third of the holes as bad. Not to mention #1 is a weird starting hole. Some big walks between holes as well. Eagle Ranch is 10 minutes away and highly recommended.

We always make time to play this course when in CO.

We love this little course because of the excellent conditions, the fact that it usually isn't crowded, the beautiful scenery, and most of all...the people who work there are ALL so nice and friendly.

Gypsum Creek in November

Thanks to to Gypsum Creek for staying open and keeping everything well maintained, especially considering the time of year. And thanks to the golfers of Gypsum Creek for realizing that a round of golf doesn't have to take 5 hours. So many courses in the Vail Valley close on a date regardless of beautiful weather. We've probably played 15 rounds at Gypsum after the other courses have closed! And for the money the course is great. The greens roll better than many of the other courses that view themselves as premier courses in the valley.

This course's surrounding are Beautiful!

I have nothing negative to say about this course. The grounds had just been aerated, but because of that, the green fees were lowered. If I were a millionaire, I'd play this course everyday!

Back nine was memorable.

Design was excellent, especially the back nine holes starting from Hole #9 were interesting and challenging. The course has a continuous running stream which is an interesting feature, but it was not maintained and overgrown with tall grasses. If they maintain it better to be seen, it will make a positive asset. Overall, it was enjoyable course.

Great views! Good pace of play. Not crowded. But overall too difficult from 6400 yards.

The course is a Pete Dye course & the fairways are extremely narrow for a mountain course. Too long & difficult for the average golfer.

A Pete dye master piece

Gypsum creek is an excellent course, designed by Pete dye. It is now ran by the city of gypsum creek, but don't kid yourself by no means is this a city park course. The staff has done an fabulous job bringing this course back to great shape, it was previously semi private course that struggled to keep up. Staff is super friendly !!!! Don't forget to stop by the grill the club sandwich is awesome !!!! For real this is a great place to spend the whole day

Interesting scenic course with a few awkward overly difficult holes.

It's a links course with most holes open enough to avoid the deep grass. A few holes were forced into a mountainous terrain where the layout was bordering on ridiculous. Having said that, it was overall a good golfing experience.

Beautiful course with great staff

This is the second year that we have visited this course and it is one of our favorites. The staff is great; very friendly and helpful. The course is challenging but has enough choice of tees to be fair. The scenery by itself is well worth the trip. Green fees are very reasonable and the course is a great value. We play this course every chance we get while we are on vacation. Just a short drive from Vail.
Thanks to the staff for making our family golf outings very enjoyable!

Fantastic 'find' in the Vail area!

This great little course (which used to be private and still looks like it) is only 30 minutes from Beaver Creek/ Avon. We had played Vail the day before and we thought Gypsum Creek was in better condition and the staff could not have been nicer. We felt like we had the course to ourselves because we never had to wait on a tee and never felt pushed from behind, even though there were a fair number of people playing the course. Number 14 is a super elevated par 3 that was breathtaking! We definitely plan to play there a lot more in the future!

Great Course. Fun and challenging holes. One hole has an elevation drop of at least 200 feet.

Staff was really friendly and helpful. At 50.00 this course is a hidden gem in the Vail Valley with some of the other courses available topping out at 250.00. Will play it again the next trip out here.

The course is very scenic, especially #14 thru 18.

A good value for the price. Holes # 1 and 2 are short but require a good tee shot. The course plays thru a valley with beautiful mountains in the background. The grees were true and relative fast.. I played the course twice in the week I was in the area. I would certainly recommend this course.
