Gypsum Creek Golf Course
About
Situated in the beautiful Gypsum Valley, Gypsum Creek Golf Course is known as much for its beautiful views as it is for the challenging Pete Dye and Perry Dye design. The course is perched atop a sage-covered mesa that looks out across the surrounding Red Table Mountains. Though it may be tempting to be distracted by the views, the golf course requires full concentration. This tough layout features rolling fairways that are flanked on both sides with native pinion and juniper trees. The undulating terrain provides dramatic challenges including steep drop-offs and tricky twists and turns. There are several formidable holes at Gypsum Creek G.C. but one of the toughest is the par-5 sixth, which is the signature hole. Thanks to the prevailing winds, even the best golfers will have trouble making it in two.

Great for the price
Challenging course, and great views. I'm pretty novice, but it was $25 well spent!
Resort quality, at a fraction of the price.
The new mangement staff has really turned this place around. In just a year or two the maintance staff have done a great job. The best greens I've seen all year, fairways well manicured. The only downside the sandtraps, firm, thank god I wasn't in to many. Beautiful surroundings, great staff, very relaxed atmosphere.
Great people and course.
A fun and fast round at a great pete dye course. .
Bring your "A" game!!!!!
The course is in great shape. Requires course knowledge in club selection. When we started the round, we asked the Starter the local rules on balls hit into hazards. He said "stroke and distance" assuming you have a ball out of bounds or lost ball. As we played the course we discovered 90% of the hazards were marked with red stakes. You should hit a second ball if you think the first is lost, but chances are good that you will be able to play under the "red stake" rule,
Not the best in the area, but fun
This course is a fun course with some beautiful vistas. Some very interesting and tight holes. The fairways were variable - some in very good early season shape and some with very sparse grass. Grounds crews were working on the course so it is likely to be better. Greens had the same variability but were mostly better and more consistent. Will not the best course in the area for the money was fun and would play again on another trip to the region.
lots of fun
Course was in great shape and the value was excellent. Staff was freindly and the restaurant was fantastic. Highly recommend Gypsum Creek to anyone!
Great Views
Very fun course to play. #17 is a very high elevated tee par 3. Views are outstanding with snow caped mountains all around. Will play this course again for sure!
Great early-season conditions on stellar layout
Played April 7th 2013. Course had opened a week or 2 earlier after snowmelt and was in great shape! Greens were the best part...rolled true and a bit fast. Classic front nine (Linksy/British open style) with a crazy back 9 up onto a mesa overlooking Gypsum. The price is awesome (especially if you get a "hot deal", the clubhouse bar is way better tham expected, and the pro shop was small but friendly. I will be back as an up-valley local.
A Hidden Gem
Drove over from Beaver Creek in 35 minutes. Found a course that has fantastic fairways and greens and several different challenging holes. Holes 5-8 are particularly cool, as they are "up" in the mountains above the creek...and included a bear running across the fairway in front of us. Beautiful views, course in great condition, and Indian summer temps in October of 66F made this a definite replay....and we have. Same result. Staff very very friendly and helpful. Do not miss this course.
Jekyll and Hyde Pete Dye fabrication
Pete Dye is my least favorite modern course designer as his designs are "contrived". His courses have little to no resemblance to taking what nature created and laying out the holes provided by nature. Nevertheless, Gypsum Creek is interesting to play once, but one would probably not want a steady diet of it. Although it's set up for walking, I doubt many people do that as it is necessary to take a mechanical "lift" to the mesa where many of the holes are located. The mesa also has many blind shots; therefore, if you have never played the course before, it is realistically necessary to take the cart out ahead to see where the ball needs to be hit. An arduous process, which doesn't favor fast play, and diminishes the overall experience. Nevertheless, it's worth playing the course if you're nearby. The staff was very cordial, helpful and friendly.
Good combination of mountain and river golf
Very challenging front nine. Well maintained. Good value for the area.
