Expensive but well looked after
Good course to play as the holes are lovely, there doesn't seem to be any bad looking holes.
I would how ever say the clubhouse is ok and the price is a bit dear for me. The putting green and chipping area and even the range are great so make sure you get there early to practise.
I would say it is a good course to play at least once.
Best course in Essex
Considering the time of year, Abridge was in fantastic condition and it was very apparent that the green staff do an amazing job ! Fairways were wet but still played well, and Greens were nearly as fast as when I played here last summer.
Our 4 ball were greeted by friendly pro shop team and clubhouse and facilities were exactly as you would expect from a golf club of this calibre.
I would certainly recommend this course and intend playing here again later this year.
Played here a few times over the last few years, and it has never disappointed.
The fairways are always kept in great condition and the greens are tricky but true.
An absolute must if you have never played here before!
Have played here numerous times over the last few years and has always played well and in goid condition. Although this year played particularly well and found the fairways being watered in the hot summer which made a big difference from other courses..
The greens are quick and true and consistent.
Biggie towpaths currently being introduced .
Overall very good and value for money, will return.
Arrived at the course to be told that the course was very busy and our tee time has been put back by 45mins as members come first. This was not a good start, this also meant that we was only able to get 14 holes in because of sunset.
Waste of a long trip down really and a waste of money would not return.
The 4 ball
In front of us had no etiquette and would not let us through. There needed to be a Marshall for slow play.
£64 for a 4 ball we got spoilt
Course in great condition can’t wait to play again
What has happened to this Club?
I played here a year ago with my son and we raved about it, as the course layout is good with beautiful views over the Essex countryside but the course was in pristine condition then.
A year later and we were most disappointed and in fact embarassed, as we had invited a friend from Australia to a course that we said would impress him only to be sorely let down. The overall maintenance of the place is shocking with the clubhouse and surrounds in need of some serious renovation, the fairways and rough not being cut regularly enough and the greens possibly the worst I have played on in the UK.
Either this Golf Club is close to going into liquidation or they have some serious management issues, I will not being playing here again.
Other than the greens being treated the course was it great condition. Will leave it a couple of weeks before I go back and hopefully they will have the greens back in their usual great condition
What a course!!!
I was not alone in my group in being blown away by the condition of this course. If my garden lawn looked half as good as the fairways I would be over the moon!
The whole feel of the place is enjoyable.
There wasn't a bad fairway or a bad green.
The only negative point is one that can normally be attributed to any course us hackers get to play is that there wasn't enough sand in the bunkers, although this is a common theme on most courses I find.
The greens were really tough, in a good way. They made you feel like you were playing a top course due to the difficulty, very tough to read and unforgiving if you roll just past a few of the holes!
I can not recommend this course highly enough, I used to live about 5 miles from it but never played it as it was very expensive and I was a member elsewhere, now having moved out a further 35 miles I will be regularly driving back to play it!!
This is without doubt the best course I have ever played regarding it's condition. It is very refreshing to see the money generated going back in to the upkeep of the course and not just siphoned off and the course deteriates as so many clubs do.
Get yourself over to Abridge as soon as you can!!!
An absolute gem just of the M11. Brilliant condition, a cracking layout. An absolute bargain for £20!
Good course and great warm-up/practice facilities. Was probably the hottest day of the year and plenty of water out on course. Challenging course in excellent condition and played midweek early afternoon so barely saw another soul. Not the easiest to get to but great value - especially at discounted prices. Tests every part of your game and greens in great condition.
Really Good Day
A course of two halves. First nine slightly open but look and condition great. Second half much tighter. Only down side on the day was that every member appears just to plays the tighter second nine and therefore slows the pace of your round enormously, what is that all about?
