A warm welcome from the chap in the shop started things off well. Nice course to play, challenging bunker positions and the 9/18th hole is awesome over the lake. Well worth a visit if in the York/Hull area.
Beautiful but challenging 9 hole golf course
Greeted by friendly staff which made a great start to a very enjoyable round of golf. The course is a quiet and very beautiful parkland course with dog legs and bunkers at very strategic locations making it a real challenge. You play the 9 holes twice but that helps for course management which is key on this course. Would definitely recommend.
Great Course
First time playing this course and I really enjoyed it. It has a lot of dog-legs that come early on and then you finished the nine with 3 par 3s in your last 4 holes. Good condition and it was very quiet at the time I went out (4:30pm).
Nice stop over
Being 9 holes it doesn’t suit everyone but course almost empty so no issues second time round.
Friendly layout with a couple of challenging holes.
Ideal to play on way home from coast.
First timers
Good value for money and greens v good condition, however course layout and the abundance of dog legs made for a monotonous round.
Well presented and challenging in places.
Allerthorpe Golf course is well presented and a tricky course to figure out. Although only 9 holes they have made the most of the land available to make this course great for beginners and golfers looking to improve course management. You have to plot yourself around the course as you can easily run out of fairway and into very long rough. Every green has bunkers which seem to be perfectly placed to catch the ball should you come up short of the green. Some of the greens were very good and a few are recovering from Fusarium in places. The course is well maintained and looked after by the staff. They could be seen throughout my round Cutting the tee boxes, fairways and greens.
The course was challenging and I look forward to playing it again in the near future. Highly recommended for any player who wants to hone in course management and think their way round a course.
Fairways in great condition however greens are very poor
Lovely Course
Took a chance when booking through golf now as nothing available at usual local courses. We were a bit sceptical as it was only £12 for 18 holes and is only a 9 hole course. What a lovely course. The 9th hole par 3 is absolutely stunning. Fairways were in excellent condition. Work to do on Greens but only to be expected after the winter we’ve had and Covid restrictions. I couldn’t really comment on the off course amenities as were closed due to Covid. Will definitely be going again.
Nice setting, good course.
We originally thought we were booking a full 18 which was actually twice round a nine. Lots of dog legs. Overall a very pleasant course, with what looked to be good facilities (closed due to covid, when we played). Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly staff member, he was keen to let us know what was what and ensured we understood our way round the course. He directed the first of the group to the ample driving range and the rest of us enjoyed a warm up on the pitching and putting greens. The course is reasonably forgiving with wide well dressed fairways and some interesting holes including a lovely final par 3 over the lake. The greens had suffered some moss growth which had been treated and they'd not yet fully recovered but there was little impact to putting. I think by the time Summer comes around this will be a great course to play, in a nice setting with helpful, friendly staff and I'm sure we'll return.
