Worth a visit
Course was in excellent condition. Staff friendly and informative. Able to download a course planner if required. Pace of play when I was there was extremely slow with four balls on nearly every hole but that proves how popular the course is. If you’re in the area definitely worth a visit
Great Course
Great course, really well maintained and the greens were in great condition.
Thought the layout of the course was really good and there were some great holes. Really enjoyed the course and look forward to playing it again.
Little to recommend
It’s very difficult to recommend this course.
As a 2-ball we specifically asked if we could avoid being behind 4-balls as wanted a good pace of play. We were told we were only behind 2-balls. This wasn’t true. A 4-ball 2 groups in front of us let the 2-ball in front of us through on the 5th. We then waited on every shot until the end of the round. There was 2 holes clear in front of the 4-ball, which we were told was members and included 2 members of the scratch team. The other 2 definitely weren’t experienced golfers from what we saw. To compound the misery, we were nearly hit whilst putting on the 18th from the 1st tee despite there being 2 big signs saying not to play if players were putting on the 18th.
The course itself hadn’t seen any water, apart from the greens, in a long time. The tees were so dry that at times it was difficult to get a tee into the brown grass. The greens were very slow with some of the grass still seeding, so patchy and not consistent in speed. The bunkersvisited had little sand in them, but plenty of stones and shells, making it difficult.
Good Course In Great Condition
I've played here before and find it a very enjoyable course to play. There are 3 or 4 holes on the back 9 that are a bit 'samey' but on the hole, there are a real challenging mix of holes, with some great views and interesting gradients to work out.
The course itself was in tip-top condition, particularly the greens. Although fairly windy, the dry, sunny conditions made for a great round of golf.
Off the course, the staff in the pro shop and the bar were very friendly.
All in all, great value for money, particularly as we managed to secure one of the 'Hot Deal' prices that day.
Good course to play !
The course is in good condition and is maintained to a high standard. The greens were very well presented and true. I would highly recommend this course. Thank you
Great Course, Great Day Out
Holes are varied and several holes are undulating, very hot the day we played and was a little slow. The course was in excellent condition. Would recommend anyone to come try it out. Played it twice during our stay on the south coast, so that must say something, the pro shop staff very friendly. Very enjoyable
Great course
First time playing here, course in great condition. 4 ball in front let us through when we caught them up. We are high handicap players but nice wide fairways meant it was a fair game.
First time at this course, well kept and in great condition. Staff were friendly and helpful so would definitely recommend a round here.
Ashley wood
Very nice golf course lovely views and very friendly place highly recommend
Nice coarse
Had a lovely day out their staff are very friendly and a beautiful coarse to play will be going again
Really like this course, great layout , stunning views, only negative was 4 members, older gentlemen in front very very slow, we were a 2 ball and we were waiting on every tee until the 10th when they let us play through, apart from that another great day and great value with my golf pass credits!!
Good for January…
All in all a challenging track. Shame about the state of the temporary tees, but didn’t detract from the experience too much.
Layout means you can generally ‘grip it & rip it’, but suspect really hard when the winds up.
Would definitely recommend & play again…
Superb Condition For December
Considering this was mid December and many courses were waterlogged with holes closed, Ashley Wood was in excellent condition with not even one temporary green or temporary hole in use. All fairways were playable and bunkers were well maintained. A few of the greens had been battered by pitch marks but most of them were still playing true.
Course in superb condition for December
Once again an absolute pleasure to play Ashley Wood. Course in superb condition for December
Loved Playing This Course
I loved playing this course. Great conditions for late November, almost like turning the clock back to late September or October. Hopefully will go back again soon. Well worth the 75 minute drive each way
