Out and About
Tried to get to a few new courses last year to vary things up. Really enjoyed the change so first off the block this year was Ashton and Lea. Very easy to find and for an affordable price for a Saturday. Sunny but fairly windy for our first visit. Wouldn't of been an issue except the course starts with the 1st 9 circling the boundary of the course. Out of bounds on the right on every hole and with my unpredictable fade, got caught out twice. The first hole sets the tone and is a beautiful looking hole. The whole course is very picturesque and very well maintained. Reminded me of Lytham Green Drive a lot, a course I enjoy playing too. Small hills but no need to be a mountain goat to get round. Fairways are not flat though and humps and hollows on each fairway add to the challenge. Greens were very quick and plenty of borrows to read so 2 putts are not guaranteed. Very enjoyable course and will be visiting again soon.Old school rules so be aware before you visit. Tailored shorts, T shirts tucked in, hats off in the bar.
Very pleasant
Well maintained course with mixture of hazards. Playing singly but pair of members ahead of me soon invited me to join them which made a very pleasant round.
Good course
The course was in very good condition and whilst busy there were no hold ups. The only criticism is that the rough is a little too rough. The greens are very good and true. Worth a visit
Another success for winter golf
First time at Ashton and Lea. Very impressed with the course particularly the greens. Staff very helpful. Hole 2 closed for work otherwise full course.
A good day had by all
Good course good people great day, this course is a must for any Golfer.
Thank you to all at Ashton for making me so welcome
Flat, well-cared for course
The course has some of the best kept fairway and semi rough I've played this season. If a few of the holes are a little similar, that did not spoil the day. Even on a Saturday afternoon the pace of play was not unduly slow. Greens run very well indeed- not a single bobble all day.
Great days golf
If you get the chance play this course will play this course again soon
Nice course,friendly folk
Nice course without any special holes,in great nick and absolutely superb greens,The staff and members couldn't have been nicer chatting to us and offering advice about the course.
Well maintained
Considering the conditions the night before and on the day, the course was in immaculate condition
