Challenging course
Will definitely play here again.
Unfortunately holes 8-12 were closed when we arrived. And a lot of slow dog walkers around.
An adventure over the Moor
There aren't any safety fairways to catch your slice so aim left and 3 wood off the tee. If you've got a long iron in your hand, you're more likely to be dropping your next shot than putting it so you're probably best off leaving those at home. You can't even blame the greens for your bad putting either.
Do you want to know how bad you are at golf? Come here.
You won't beat your handicap but you'll enjoy it because it's a beautiful walk.
Your going to need more balls
First time we have played Baildon. Friendly club, lovely clubhouse, staff and challenging course.
Fairways and greens all in good condition.
Can’t wait to come back and have another crack at it.
Wow! Cant go wrong
What a treat this was on a beautiful day.
Lots of elevated tee boxes which I enjoy, fairways were in decent condition, greens were simple but good and true.
Very hilly, so be ready for a hike, but the views make it all worth it.
It’s not as polished as a course you’d pay 3x the price for of course, but it was in great knick.
For £15 you really can’t go wrong, I’d happily expect to pay double that.
Do note: rough is very thick moorland heather and the wind can cause some trouble, so take plenty of balls! That being said, I still posted my joint best ever score thanks to some lovely par 3’s, great greens, and not stupidly long par 4 or 5s.
Course in great condition, greens very good. Great value for money. Can’t beat it if you get good weather but guess it would be hard going if it was wet and windy.
Love golf.
Second time at baildon and never disappointed. The caurse was in great condition, greens were really good. Found the staff and members friendly.
Bazza
First time playing bazza in a few years. Had an enjoyable game with a pal and the course was in good knick after a long and wet winter it's drying out. They have cut back some of the very penal rough which can put people of playing the course. The greens albeit on the slower side ran very true and were a joy to put on.
Hard but fun
Really have to be accurate off the tee, but a really fun challenge.
Great layout - played in the frost
This course has magnificent views and a nice varied hole layout. Unfortunately when we played the greens were frozen solid and their were only 12 holes open. But to be expected at the end of December. This course is usually great value for money and well worth a trip.
Will be nice in the summer !
Course was very heavy and tee conditions were a bit shabby - 2 holes closed without notice. Greens very good but it felt like a slog.
Blowing a Gale!
I love this course it is a great leveller when the wind is blowing a gale in your face at the majority of tees. On this day both the group in front and the group behind gave in and returned to the clubhouse as the wind got stronger.
We stuck at it and in the end posted reasonable scores. A welcome pint in the friendly clubhouse afterwards topped off which due to lockdown will be our last round of 2020
Wet day for golf
Chose to play here because on past experience this moor top course would be one of the only dry ones available and I was correct. The fairways and greens were unbelievably dry although our balls picked up some mud.. this is always a tough track to play especially when the wind blows as it did for us. My only condemnation was the extremely slow and selfish play by the four-ball that teed off at 9.10 , two groups in front of us. We walked off after 16 holes when there were 5 separate groups stuck behind these idiots. The group immediately behind them told us these members do this every time they play. Why any golf club allows this is beyond me and because this has happened we will never play here again. Shame. Up to club and members to sort this out.
Enjoyable Saturday
It was the first time we had played this course and although slightly held up by the pace of play ahead, we came off the course having thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
My only downer was that the signature hole is too early in the round as I would have loved to have another go at it when properly warmed up
If you hit the fairways which unbelievably I managed too, the course plays a lot easier but if you miss and go in the thick rough you have lost your ball!
The staff during these covid times were very friendly and helpful and I will certainly play this course again. Very happy to recommend
Great value
Played this course for the first time on a beautiful day.Initially you feel like you’re in the middle of a council estate but it’s soon apparent that the whole course opens out to a magnificent heathland vista.Visitors pay £15 and it will be the best value golf they are ever likely to pay.
Interesting & varied old style course
The course has a variety of holes each with their own challenges. The greens were in good condition with varying shapes and slopes
Great layout
Very interesting layout. Quite a hard walk being on a hill and wind was brutal. You see everything at baildon- bike riders, dog walkers, groups of people on horseback, walkers, you aren’t alone at any stage. However it didn’t detract from the round.
I will say baildon have some condition issues- I’m not an expert but the fairways were not ideal, but it has been a strange year with furloughed staff, no rain for months then a couple of months with tons of rain.
I paid £13 for the round which despite the conditions on a few holes was outstanding value. This is visually a great course with possibly the best views I’ve ever seen on an inland course.
I also give baildon credit for lowering green fees and memberships this year due to reflect the conditioning - most courses don’t do that. This one should be on your bucket list if you live in Yorkshire
