BAMBURGH

You must come and play this course . What a layout and fantastic views . So many blind holes . Can be very challenging if it’s windy . No pro shop . Definitely worth a visit .
Played it on and off over 30 years and it never disappoints

Spectacular views

I have played this course before as we take our annual holiday every year in Bamburgh.
I love the course with its spectacular views of the castle and out to sea and beautifully manicured greens and fairways.
Be prepared for a tough day if the wind blows! I have taken a 5 iron for a short par 3 in the past so it can be a challenge.
Took my boys round today for the first time and they loved it.
If I had one criticism it would be the green fees, £144 for a four ball on special offer is a bit steep not to mention the £60 each it cost us at the weekend.
But hey ho we only come once a year and the staff are super friendly.
For those who love golf for the exercise and views as well as the sport itself this place is a must
Beautiful…..

Tricky but fun

We played the course right after a torrential downpour but barring a few flooded bunkers everything was fine. The course itself is challenging with a lot of blind shots but the variety in the holes makes it very interesting to play. There are a couple of points where you may have to wait for other groups to finish during busy times. A very detailed recreation can be found on a popular console golf game 2019 edition.

Will visit again

Played with my sons and apart from some occasional slow play from a 4-ball ahead of us (which is beyond the club’s control) it was an excellent afternoon. Great course with some excellent views

Fun course, beautiful views

Bamburgh Castle was a fun course to play, although a bit challenging without local knowledge. Maybe too many blind shots, but it meant more of a conservative approach, as being too aggressive can be easily punished. However, it does make you want to come back and play again!

The views were amazing and while there’s no pro shop, the clubhouse was really nice and the bar carried all your essentials like balls, gloves, tees etc.

It would be a fantastic course to book a day out with your friends and have a bite to eat in the clubhouse afterwards. Even if playing on your own, you can still have a fun time.

Just a great course

Never played here before, we got lucky with weather, a beautiful early evening no wind and so it made course very playable.

Not a classic links in true sense quite high up and some holes inland but would highly recommend.

Greens tricky to read but superb.

Would definitely recommend.

Also played Dunstanburgh Castle links on same trip, more like a traditional links and again excellent course.

Both very good value for money.

Brutal but fun

Booked a twilight round and arrived in time. Unfortunately with the exception if the Secretary the club was closed “as we didn’t think anyone was crazy enough to play today”.

I was offered the opportunity to play another day this week which was generous but I chose to play instead due to other commitments.

Without a strokesaver as they are being altered the course presented an additional challenge coupled with the 40 mph winds. Nonetheless I enjoyed a quick, unique round on a course that truly made me think and plan my way around.

Knowing the course better would have saved a few shots off my score but the course is fair and I had no issues navigating it.

As many have said before the views are stunning and any suggestions the course is weak we’re not my takeaway. I walked off a course having been physically battered with the biggest smile on my face.

This is a course that should be enjoyed for the quirky entertainment and stunning views provided. Challenging par 3s, interesting par 4s and quick, subtle greens which were still able to cope with winds that regularly blew the ball off the tee peg.

I can’t wait to return irrespective of weather conditions.

Greens need some TLC

The course condition was disappointing for the green fee. Having played Bamburgh for over 30 years I was quite surprised with the state of the tees and greens and if I didn't know better I'd say the course looked in need of some rest. This didn't spoil our day as the greeting from members, house and greens staff was fantastic! I know the course will improve and I'll be back as soon as I can.
