Wet weather

Ok but not the best.

admittedly the weather wasn't great but on a lot of holes you could not distinguish between the light rough and fairways.
Greens not in the best conditions and some are very small.
When it started raining the drainage in all areas was poor. I would advise to check the weather before you play.
Not sure its worth the £30 grren fee but that seems the going rate these days.

Lovely course.

Our tee time was after 10am. When we arrived the only opportunity for a hot drink was in the pro shop from a machine. The bar area was closed and dark with no indication of where to get a drink.

As a lady golfer I was disappointed that ladies are not really catered for in the choice of clothing etc, just the pre loved rail in the ladies locker room. I felt that it was very much geared toward the male golfer eg (man cave)?.

Lovely course and well looked after.

Well worth it

A shorter course but more than makes up for it with a really interesting layout. Challenges to every hole, shot selection is key here!
Also a couple of nice drivable par 4s if you’ve got it in you…

Very hilly and fount it very difficult to play

This course is extremely hilly, I’m a fit 26 year old and was very tired after walking the course, didn’t have the best of games, fount the course very hard to play, wouldn’t recommended for a high handicapper

A course to think your way around!

Visited Barlaston with our society 24/06 and was pleasantly impressed with the course given what you’d expect for a relatively cheap green fee. Course was in good condition and really makes you think your way round rather than just whack driver every time.
Staff in the pro shop and bar were friendly. Only minor negative was the food was expensive for the quality that was served.

Overall a very nice golf club and course and we’ll definitely be back

Great round

It always helps if you have a fantastic round so I'll make no apologies about that influencing this review but I really have to pay compliments to Barlaston who are making great efforts to address historical flooding issues. They also have the best deals at the moment for all the local clubs.
We've had a lot of rain and we turned up fully expecting the bottom 4_5 holes to be either off bounds or boggy at best. We saw no surface water all day and the course was in great nick. For a tenner it's an absolute bargain and I hope nobody reads this so we can keep playing without it being too busy!

Great course but slow play

The course itself is looking good, really good condition and with the changes made its getting better. The one downside as it always is at this course is pace of play. I was playing on my own and was stuck behind a 3 ball of members from the 2nd all the way round, this wasn't helped by the fact that none of them could hit the ball further than 150 yards. If this constant issue was sorted this would be a much better course for visitors.
