Much Better Courses in Doncaster For The Same Price

I’ve played all of the courses in Doncaster and would say that for conditions alone this is the worse I have seen. It seems the course has little if any irrigation. The fairways are still suffering as a result of the 2018 heatwave there’s areas of compact mud and lots of uneven grass. There’s no consistency with the length of the grass whether it be fairway, semi rough or rough. It’s a boring layout too with 6 par 4s to start off and the 18th is appalling apart from the green. Much better courses in Doncaster don’t waste your money.

Needs to do better

This course has potential which seems to be recognised by the new owners, but nothing is being done to enhance the course after years and years of promises. At £30 its too expensive when compared to the other local options which have more facilities and are better run. The course itself is fine, not many holes which are more than just ok though and I think for £30 you want more. There is one par three with water which is probably the signature hole. Lots more courses locally which are less to play but offer more variety and excitement.

Better value courses around

I have played this course many times as it’s 15 minutes from my home. I have also been a member here in the past. The course price was £30 for a round, which is just not competitive with nearby courses of better quality (Forest Pines £20, College Pines £20). Yes the course is in great nick, has fantastic winter tees but the course is very often on all temps in winter. The layout of the course is ok, it has been tidied up recently but not enough uniqueness and interesting holes to make me want to come back. The range is rubbish and getting food and drink with your round can be hit and miss. There are apparently big plans for this course so maybe it will be better, but until then there are much more fulfilling options within 20-30 mins drive of this course.

Should be better for the money !

This is one of the nearest courses to me and at £30 should be much better and more accessible and with more options to do food, drinks and more when you are there. The course is nearly always on temps in winter and therefore is less available. The winter tee mats are the best I've seen anywhere. It is obvious to those that visit (rather than members) that this course is being run on a shoe string, with one staff member doing absolutely everything. The range is rubbish and no yardage markers to allow you to even range your shots. I know the management say they are waiting for the go ahead for development, but how many years are players going to wait for that ? such a pity :-(

Poorly Ran

Arrived a bit early and was told by the 2 people in the club shop ( neither older than 20) that we could tee off straight away and the 2 others on the putting green were waiting for someone.

Asked the 2 lads and they had also been told to tee off straight away?

Played the course loads and it hasnt changed in years, greens were good though to say all the hot weather we have had. Did nine holes and went to get another drink from the pro shop - was all closed up and the clubhouse as well (it was 5:30pm) if they had said something I could have bought more than 1 bottle of water for the whole round as it was about 27 degrees.

For the shop and the clubhouse to be shut is just bizarre - won't be going back in a hurry

Temporary Turmoil

£20 per head. We’re not notified that they were going to be temporary greens upon arrival - given the price, we presumed that we would be main greens, despite time of the year of th year.

Course condition, generally good for the time of the year, however lacks character. Temporary greens are poor and do not give opportunity to practice putting element of game. Having not been able to do this, it removes a 1/3 of the game and the price should reflect this.

There are a lot more courses across South Yorkshire which are in better condition and are cheaper in price. It is advised that this is addressed as soon as possible. Having said this, it explained the vacant car park (handful of cars) - looks like others may have had similar experiences.

Joke of a place!!

Third time playing here today, won't ever be going again. I've played here a few times when my girlfriend has come for a walk round, after they had my money for the round they told me she wouldn't be allowed to walk round as management had a new policy about non golfers, which is not mentioned any where on the website. They also said it was Non refundable and the only way we could both go on is if we paid another full green fee!! The girl in the shop was of no help and made no effort to even help sort the situation. So we left and won't be back. I found this all abit odd as the last time I played the members told us how desperate they were for new members. Not exactly "friendly and welcoming" like it claims on the website.

Winter Conditions

Course was in good condition for the middle of winter.
Played as a 3 ball and took just over 4 hours togo round, would have been a bit quicker but for the group in front.
Very very windy when we played which made some of the holes very challenging.
Greens were very good for this time of year.
Course is a bit open in places meaning you can get away with some errant drives.
Played the course last year and they are currently doing a lot of work to certain areas and it will be interesting to see what the finished article looks like.
Paid £20 each for the round, very much worth it.
