Great layout, friendly clubhouse & a good test
A warm welcome by the pro - good start.
Lovely day and course was in good condition (despite some obvious work being done to fairways & drains). Greens rolled very true and the whole place looks delightful with ponds, flowering bushes and a few ducks and swans swimming about.
Tricky course with some long par 4’s. A real good test
Thoroughly enjoyed the round!!
Great course, nice members, superb practice area
I was adopted by a member on the first tee who was very welcoming and kindly gave advice on how to play each hole.
The practice area is fantastic. Nets, chipping green, putting green, and even an approach practice range - I've never even seen one of these before.
Considering the time of year and the amount of rain we've had recently the course was very playable and in great condition. None of the swamps and mud pits you find at my home course (Sherdley Park).
Great in summer/dry weather but poor after rain.
I’ve played this course in dry conditions and in the wet and it’s definitely a dry weather course. When I played earlier in summer the condition of the course was great with good fairways and excellent greens, but in very wet conditions like this time I played, it’s just not a great course. Waterlogged on some fairways, some greens so wet they had footprints all over them and the 8th had a temporary green that was utterly unplayable. Why not do the reconstruction of the 8th green in mid summer when the fairway will accept a temporary green? Just about worth the £35 fee in summer but in the condition I last played it, £25 tops. Not sure why anyone would be a member here as it’s probably unplayable for a third of the year
Great Little Find
Looking for a last minute booking and found Birchwood Golf Course and gave it a go. Playing a 3-ball, everyone enjoyed it, every hole has its challenge. Will play again, nice little find.
Excellent Course
Excellent course, well maintained and challenging with the amount of brooks, lakes and bunkers. Definitely will be playing again!
Lovely course, will definitely be back.
Course was very soft when we played. Granted we had a day of rain prior to playing but didn’t expect it to be as soft as it was. Not sure what it would be like in the winter.
With that being said, it’s a lovely, challenging course which makes you use every club in your bag.
There is a great warm up area. Probably the best I’ve been too and the club shop is filled with everything you need. Really friendly gentleman behind the counter who aided us on guidance around the course (as there is a few road crossings) so we weren’t to get lost!
Would highly recommend if looking for a challenge on a new course.
A beautiful course on a beautiful evening
I played in a 3 ball trying to beat our previous weeks score. The course was in brilliant condition, I played well and we had a great round.
Quite a few long holes but very pretty with several ponds and plenty of wild life to see as you walk the fairways.
Definitely recommended
Great course
Great course in great condition with plenty of challenging holes.
Beautiful course, from the well kept fairways to the very well maintained greens.
One of the best courses I've played.
Return visit
I have played this course many years back and forgotten how good it really is. Although it was a little soft underfoot and the fairways had no roll at all it was still a very enjoyable course, greens were great for the time of year and the fairways and rough were in good condition and the ground staff were out cutting the rough. I will return in the summer.

Love this golf course played a few times
At £20 you can’t beat it👍
Birchwood - a real gem!
Great day out - course in great condition - staff really friendly!
Top draw course and club
Fantastic course, well kept, the whole course is in great condition throughout
The greens are immaculate quick/tricky too.
The course is a credit to the groundstaffs work!
The only criticism for me was the lack of 200/150/100 stakes, although there were centred plates in the fairway, not everybody stays on the fairways!!! We were visitors so they would be a great addition for non members
Its the best course we have played up to now this year.
Good challenge
First time playing Birchwood and wasn’t disappointed, it’s a course you have to think about placement on a lot of holes, tee boxes in good condition, fairways had been spiked the day before so not playing as they should but all to keep the course in good nick and will be great in a week or so, greens very good so all in all a very tidy well looked after course, guy in pro shop very helpful, I’m guessing he’s the pro, really enjoyed the round and impressed with the course layout, playing there again next week.
Little Gem
Cracking course played it on the off chance glad I did, guy in the pro shop was polite and helpful, course is well maintained and great value for money
Fair Test
Great value £20 for a Friday 3pm round. Course was ok considering the hot summer has caused some damage but now 2 weeks of heavy rain.have left it very soft in places. A fair test of every golfing ability as the many ditches and ponds means you need to think your way around the course and not just whack it a far as you can.
Great course
It’s a bit pricey (£28). It also didn’t help the fact there was a 3 ball and a 2 ball in front of us who joined together to make a 5 ball, we tee’d off at 14:36 and the course was in excellent condition
