Poor value
A long walk on a hot, windy day was made longer by appalling pace of play.
No evidence that anything had been done to the course to counter long dry weather - burnt out links-y fairways, fair enough but greens showed no signs of watering or tlc.
On a cheap and cheerful course this would be expectable, but for the money (weekday afternoon tee-off) it should be better.
Championship Setup
Unaware that the pins had been placed for championship setup, both mid teen handicaps but really enjoyed some of the pin placements, a 50ft Birdie was the highlight for me, luck rather than judgement, quite congested at tee off and a 4 ball in front had little etiquette when it came to playing through the 2 balls behind them, they only did 9 so no excuse really, maybe clearer communication to 4 balls on allowing faster players through when the opportunity arises. Apart from that well maintained, greens were in excellent condition and a thoroughly enjoyable round.
Fantastic value for money
Great course with excellent greens and fantastic staff. Enjoyed the round and will definitely be back
Hottest day
Ground staff have really stepped up. Course conditions much improved since I last played there. Focus on the greens and this will be really good value. Well done birds hill.
Its alright
Course isn't too bad but not very challenging as it is very flat and open, it could do with a cut as the grass was a bit long and it is a little bit on the pricey side but with a deal from GolfNow it was more reasonable, all in all its ok and the course difficulty would suit a beginner/higher handicapper, just needs to lower the price a little bit and would be a solid recommendation.
Shame about the jobsworth at starters house
Have played this course before and always been okay for the price. But today the complete rudenesses and unpleasantness of the bloke working at the starters hut really dampened the whole day completely unnecessary from him and obviously wanted to try to assert his dominance for no reason. Course was all fine for the price but the pasties and price of pork scratchings you would need a strong stomach and wallet For them to be seen again.
Review
The course was great with a great balance between long and short par challenges. Looking forward to playing there again very soon.
Poor condition
Tee box uneven, fairways not cut properly and greens are like brown not green and very bobble. Shame really because could be a nice course. I like the driving range but the balls are so old.
Club house is ok. Best thing about it is they have a American golf shop.
Value for money...
Played here for the first and last time today..
Booked last minute slot to play on the afternoon, got to the course all seemed well golf staff were friendly however when visiting the bar to get tokens for driving range would of thought we had asked the bar staff to saved the world. Poor attitude.
Got on the first tee, was un even and had more craters then the moon. Anyhow as this was the first tee nothing out the norm. However sadly this was the case with every single tee, all cut up anyone would of thought the six nations had be held on them the previous day.
Sadly the greens weren't much better, lost count of the amount of holes and divots in them. Uneven slow and just unkept, not what I was expecting from this place. I'm no pro at golf and have played a fair few courses in the area, this place offers cheap tee time but you really do get what you play for.
Great course lay out just not well kept in my opinion, my advice would be to sped and extra £10 and go somewhere else.
