Poor maintenance
You better be an expert golfer if you want to play this course as if you don’t land the ball on the fairway you don’t have a chance of finding it as the rough is about a foot and a half long which made the whole game very disappointing as you lose a great shot because of the poor maintenance of the course will not be playing again again ever
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
DO NOT PLAY THIS COURSE!!
I’ve never played a course this bad, I’ve played many municipal course and really don’t mind where I play, however this place is something else, £32.50 green fee let me just put that into perspective you can play old thorns for £45 on a weekend which is a championship course. The course is covered in geese droppings, there is absolutely no sand in the bunkers, and the greens have so many pitch marks it’s unbelievable, and that’s only the ones that actually have grass on them!!! Please see from the photos how this course is in the peak season after having 3 months of no play on it... for any golfer this is not a course you want to play, the guys infront where very inconsiderate and wouldn’t let us play through even after hitting 3 balls off the tee infront of us..
Very water logged course
Played in January and the course was very waterlogged verging on unplayable. I am sure it's a different course in the summer.
Not the best course after rain or during winter
Booked a round today was failed to be told glad of the course wasnt open as it was way too wet out there and that they will probably be closing the rest soon. Yet despite that on Instagram and Facebook never mentions anything of the conditions or the closed holes actively tells you to come along as the golf is great!great course layout could be so much more will stick to other course further out that offer better playing conditions in all seasons
M Smythe
Course in very god condition & excellent value for money
Could be better
Well laid out course however the fairways were muddy and the cut was too high, even for this time of year, hard to define fairway and the first cut! Greens ha e just been worked on so leave it a month.
Boggy Fairways
Front 9 fairways are like a swamp, Greens decent, course layout and signs not very good.
If fairways were in better condition course could great. Back 9 is better.
Good value for money
Great course nice and varied I good condition
Will play it again
Nice course
Although the weather forecast had predicted mainly dry conditions, it in fact rained for almost all of the round. Because of of the weather the course was completely empty, I saw no one else until I was playing the 18th and noticed someone on the 1st green. This is a really nice course, attractive layout and and fairly flat. The large amount of water hazards make some of the holes tricky.. Due to the low numbers at the club that day, the kitchen had been closed early but the guy behind the bar rustled me up an excellent sausage roll (it was huge, more of a sausage log!). The guy in the pro shop saw me coming off the course and we had a good chat.
I will return on a nice sunny day soon.
This is a good medium challenge course when weathers good.
There are a few patches on the fairways but not too bad after the summer we had. The greens were very good, true and consistant. The only thing to spoil them, as with many courses, is pitchmarks left by the more ignorant golfer.
All in all an enjoyable round and i will happily return there.
Blacknest
Perfect day out, course was perfect, although a few of the bunkers require more sand, but thats a minor point.
Would recommend to anyone in the area, the course has improved over the last 5 years and is now in great shape, many new exciting things happening within the club
too wet
I have played this course many times before and enjoyed it for its clever layout. But on this occasion it was waterlogged and the course should have been shut as much for its own protection so it can be played and enjoyed when the weather improves.
Mudbath
Regrettably played here on Saturday 27th January and came off after 11 holes due to the appalling condition of the course - IT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN OPEN (if only to protect the course).
It was a total mud bath, trolleys getting stuck in mud, water logged fairways, no definition between fairways and rough, poor condition ladies tees and a rabbit scrape in one green.
After changing out of our muddy clothing we spoke to someone in the proshop whos response was "you are entitled to your opinion" - not exactly decent customer service considering I am a category one golfer who does have some idea on how a course should be presented.
We also spoke to a local in the car park when we were leaving and he said that the course is known for being incredibly wet during the winter and should probably be closed for at least 3 months each year.
We will certainly never return. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Disappointed
The course was very wet and my electric trolley kept getting clogged up with muck.
I would be wary about playing in rainy conditions. However, it would be a fair challenge in more clement conditions, in very pleasant surroundings.
