Just a nice water hazard to get over Photo submitted by Uz276GW53QTNlHsllAIs on 04/15/2021
Can’t fault it
The course itself is in great condition from the tee boxes, fairways and greens. I am not a great player, if I was to work out my handicap it would probably be around the 20-22 mark so I found the course a bit of a challenge, the greens are nearly all have awkward slopes and very fast making them difficult. Saying this it is a very interesting layout with a good mix of slopes, water and sand hazards. I scored 5 star for everything except the amenities which I scored 4 star only as I did not use them. There is a cabin at the 1st/10th tee where you can buy refreshments and there is a club house and shop.
Great Course
We originally booked for 18 holes but after a downpour after 9 we decided to call it a day and have some food and drinks in the club house. We really enjoyed the first 9 and were disappointed we were unable to complete the whole 18 and so we will definitely be back to do this at some point. It was unfortunate to not complete the whole course, but we really liked the first 9 and the variation in the holes. So I only gave 3* in value for money for the reason that we were unable to complete the course after paying for the whole 18, if we were able to complete the course then it would've received 5* for sure. The food was also good in the bar.
Bletchingley
Have played Bletchingley before. Decent course and never had a problem. But the welcome we received (well, didn’t) from the young guy in the pro shop was shocking. I don’t usually feel compelled to complain, but he never uttered a word when my son and I approached. I said we had a booking but could we add a buggy. He shook his head. I asked if anything available later and he shook his head. Didn’t say a single word to us from start to finish. Not one word. I picked up a couple of cards and waited for him to acknowledge us, but nothing. Quite unbelievable. Cannot understand why a club would have someone like that as the face of their brand.
Majorly Downhill
This course used to be amazing, but I played yesterday and it has majorly gone down hill. The tee boxes were abysmal, the bunkers has next to no sand in them and the greens were patchy, slow and inconsistent.
The course has a great lay out but it has really deteriorated since I played it last time.
Tough course in good nick
2.15 tee on Wedñesday. Not busy, fairways good and greens true. Not sure slope rating of 129 does the difficulty justice.
Great golf course
Bletchingley is a fantastic golf course with a rest variety of holes. The course was in fantastic condition and is very picturesque. There is some walking between holes but that isn’t a problem, play was a little slow but mostly due to the course being busy and the group in front of us were slow. The clubhouse offers good variety in beers and other beverages and sitting outside by the 18th is a great way to end the day!
Overall I really recommend Bletchingley and will definitely be back to play the course again soon!
Good play and play - pace deadly slow
I understand this is a pay and play course although 5 hours for a 2 ball is way too long - pace of others needs to be addressed. Good standard overall although like many courses, needs the dryness to make the grass longer to cut finer. Greens were very bobbly.
Nice course needs some tlc
Nice interesting course but could do with some serious maintenance.
Charging £45 to play mostly in a bog is ridiculous. Especially when they brag about how good the drainage is!
Don’t believe all the reviews!
Considering the ridiculous amount of rain we have had recently, and what appeared to be some bad reviews of the course online, I was a little apprehensive to play the course. However this was instantly changed when the bloke at the desk greeted me and we ended up chatting for a good 15 minutes. He informed us that a number of the tees would w off mats and was understandable given how much rain we had had and we’re due to have during the day. Once we were out on the course it was amazing to see just how many tee boxes were not off mats. It was only the par 3’s that were which to be honest I completely understand. We recently played Celtic Manor (Montgomery and 2010 courses) and I would say that this course is in much better condition that those two. Fairways were in very good knock and the greens even more so. Will definitely be going back again!
Good track to play
Challenging course and very good layout! Makes you think before just hitting a shot.
Course is in good condition considering the amount of rain we had
Would recommend this to anybody looking for a challenge
Nice course but muddy
This is a nice and quite challenging course with some narrow fairways when driving. After the icy weather we have had it was a bit muddy in places and so would be best played outside of winter conditions. the staff there were very friendly and we will be back in fairer climes.
Poor condition, expensive
Course in poor condition, temporary green on 2nd hole ( due to vandalism I was informed ) - with no information as to distance etc ( and can't be seen properly with view finder ) . Pathways to some holes strewn with mud and debris making them hazardous to navigate. 18 temporary tees - often in the most obstructed location making a good tee shot very difficult or impossible ( who would place them in such a position knowing they will be compulsory in winter conditions ? ) . Pro shop unattended and closed - when I tried to raise concerns after giving up playing due to poor / hazardous condition of course. Bletchingly GC claim the course is well draining ,numerous fairways were so waterlogged balls plugged entirely. Expensive too wanted £35+ to play . Tried to raise concerns with Steve ( club pro ) who happened to be in the bar - which was open but with no bar server personel - Steve , disappointingly, didn't seem concerned . Will avoid in future and advise phoning pro shop to get update on conditions if you contemplating a round there , maybe the summer months are better - but reading the other reviews here the summer is beset by a catalogue of other issues . Was once a nice GC I heard . . . . .
Great Value for Money
Friday afternoon 3ball with mixed level of handicap. Course conditions were excellent. Very well kept considering the weather. Great Value for money. £18 each on a Friday afternoon. Pace of play was good and only slowed the last 2 but not an issue. Will be returning soon
