Golf now
Greens great for time of year, fairways boggy in places, course down to 12 holes due to weather will be going back in spring
Nov 22 Review
Avoid until money is spent on the course. The bunkers were a disgrace, the fairway I would describe is a series of farmers fields, and the greens needed cutting. It's clearly not maintained due to a lack of funding.
Bowring Park
Just played Saturday morning very boggy and wasn't told 9 holes was closed till we got to the 9th hole which had a barrier across it ,greens were nice condition but the course needs to sort the drainage out
A Nice course
A nice municipal course that was good value for money
Good municipal course
Nice course needs money spendind on the greens and tees but good fun some good holes
Not to long so enjoyable for high handicappers or just a knock with your mates.
Nice course
Overall the course is excellent value for money, greens and fairways looked brilliant. Only negative is the bunkers are in need of some TLC.
length of round
could be a great course, but.............4 ball jumped over the fence on the 3rd hole in front of our 4 ball who looked like they have never played golf before slowing our game to a crawl, then on the back nine a one ball jumped in front of us as well who also looked like he had watched golf on the TV. thought, that looks easy, bought himself some catalogue clubs and proceeded to zig zag up every fairway all the while thinking he was tiger woods over every shot. im afraid this course is now off our saturday morning 4 ball rota. if you want a cheap round on a decent municipal golf course only for it to be ruined by non golfers dressed in jeans, T shirts, with no etiquette whatsoever and would not have a clue what "would you like to play through" means, this is the course for you.
enjoy your round!
Not bad at all
Course was in good condition as were the greens how ever to many people jumping holes and very slow play was a 5 ball of kids in front of are game could do with some sign posting for what hole your on and we’re to go for the money it’s good
Okay value for the money and a good knock
Played here before but not in summer so was good to see what it was like 'in season'. Course is what it is - a municipal. Condition fair - greens were quite good initially, if slow, but quite pitted on some of the later ones. Bunkers were generally poor as no rakes but had sand in them. Fairways were fine and cut, tees okay. Got a bit slow as groups wouldn't let those ahead through, and people jumping in on holes so etiquette not it's best (including dress code) and dog walkers around but it's what you get with this sort of course. It was fine for a knock and okay for £12, wouldn't pay more though.
Signage
At times it was difficult to work out which way it was to the next tee after finishing on the green, little or no signs indicating where to locate the next tee.
Bargain
Value for money. Apart from the bunkers the course is well maintained. No rakes in bunkers which is understandable as public have easy access so probably nicked them. Fairways and greens are very good. Lady in the shop was nice and helpful ( although the shop only sells drinks so don’t expect to buy balls etc ). For a newbie or high handicapper this is ideal as it’s not a difficult course. I’d definitely go again.
Good for beginners
You very much get what you pay for with Bowring.
Very basic "clubhouse" facilities (though now much better tarmac parking); first tee often a bit crowded.
Yellow tees a bit ropey, and some green surrounds a bit rough but fairways & greens good despite recent rain. Needs better hole/tee direction signs & 200 / 150 / 100 distance markers for non regulars.
A lot of wide fairways, with a few tricky holes - hence good for beginners / high handicappers.
Need to use local pub for after match drink.
Could be better
The course layout and look are good the greens were good and the pace of play was exceptable. As with most courses the things that let them down are the little things like bunkers not up to much tees looking bare and some weeds on the fairways. But if they could get all the people who come on the course after the clubhouse shuts to pay maybe we would have a better course.
Nice course with decent greens
The course itself is very good. A lot of variety in holes and the greens are descent for a municipal course.
Evening play is not great as you get a lot of locals playing with one club and kids walking around.
