Value for money
Course in good condition and greens very good, unfortunately play was very slow.
Well worth the money
Good day
Played Bowring many times over the years, not the longest of courses but a good test. I’ll definitely be playing there again soon
Great for high handicap players
It’s a great walk with some excellent holes that can be testing.
The one thing I don’t like is the bunkers.
Overall, Bowring park is good value for money, easy to get to & a test for most.
Excellent value for money
Having read reviews from years ago we very nearly didn’t book this course which was a last minute replacement.
Reviews appeared to have got better recently with just cause.
The course was in great condition overall (particularly the greens). Ok the bunkers / tee off positions were not brilliant but both were ok.
Overall exceptional value for money and would return.
Lovely well kept course
Lovely little course, after reading bad reviews I was sceptical but these must have been from far previous as the course condition was excellent, 17.50 for the round was great. Lots of bunkers but no rakes, however wasn’t a issue as we got speaking to a gentleman who volunteers who was going around taking each bunker. I would certainly recommend this course and we have already spoken about coming back to play, no clubhouse or bar but I believe is council run and this isn’t a issue for us plus some of the par 4s are also very long which is great. 5/5 overall for sure!
Greens in good condition. Great value for money and enjoyed it as much as other local courses which are 3/4 times the price! If it had a clubhouse then it’d be a great club to join.
For the price it’s perfect
The course needs a bit more sign posting for hole playing and maybe a bit of work on tea boxes. Really really impressed with 17/18 of the greens but the other is under construction of some kind. Really good course Maintenance from green keepers and would happily pay again for the price. Fantastic
Great value
Yes, it's only a municipal, and yes it usually gets a bad rep for a couple of reasons....but for the green fee amount (£13) its great value.
Like most municipals, certain things could be improved (such as tee boxes & bunkers), but the greens were in great nick for the time of year (and on any course, they are the most important)!
You could spend 2-3 times as much elsewhere and would probably not get the same value for money.
Greens were fairly good, rolling true. Fairways were ok only a couple that were rubbish great value for money and would play here again
Shaping up well
Great condition for a course that was boggy in winter. Greens and fairway great. Course can do with a club house but for its cost was good round of golf.
Poor golf experience
Course was in bad condition which for the price and time of year I don’t mind too much. Worse thing about this course is the amount of dog walkers on it. The pace of play was slow anyway but when there’s more dog walkers than golfers on there, your never gonna have a good experience. Also there was a man riding round on a push bike across fairways with a few clubs in his hand. He was stopping on different holes an playing shots. He also had a dog. They clearly don’t really care much about golfers having a good experience on this course. Will not be playing here again even though it’s local..
