Little Gem

This course has made great strides in recent years. There are too many excellent upgrades to mention them all. There are a few improvements still to be made. The SI have recently been changed to reflect some of these changes.
The 1st is a par 3 protected by 3 bunkers. An accurate tee shot is needed here. The 2nd needs an accurate drive left of middle - beware the bunker on the left and the railway line to the right. The next is a long par 4 with the railway to the right again. The new white and yellow tees afford a fantastic view down the 4th fairway, with a new lake on the right and trees to the left. Interesting 3rd shot up onto an elevated green. Keep your drive left of centre on the next hole, avoiding the tree from the back tees. Beware the dip to the right of the green with your second shot. There are 2 tee areas on the 6th. The back tees need an accurate drive in the centre to clear the ridge. The red tee shots need to keep right to avoid racing off left and backwards. Keep right on the elevated green to avoid the deep bunker. Cross the road to the 7th and play up the hill. Fantastic views from the 8th tee hitting out over a ‘valley’ onto a mound and then across onto an isolated green. The 9th is a blind hole. After hitting over the top it needs a long shot onto an elevated green. Setting off on the home stretch provides an excellent view of the course and the 10th hole - a slight dogleg left. The 11th is a long dogleg to the right, where the adventurous hit over the trees to the green. The next hole is a long par 3, that many fail to reach from the red tees. Hitting up over the hill to the next green requires 3 accurate shots. The dreaded 14th poses many obstacles to putting your tee shot on the green. A good view again from the 15th, looking backwards over the Tarn and forward down to the green. Cross the road to the elevated tee of the 16th. A long tee shot is needed here, so that you can clear the bunker surrounding the green. Next it’s up and over the steep hill to the bunker protected green. The elevated tee gives a good view down the last hole. Beware the trees to the left and OOB to the right. Make a good putt on the last, as you are being watched from the clubhouse.
Make sure you stay to eat, as the food is superb.

Lovely course. (Hills)

Had a great afternoon. Was not too busy on a Friday so we were never held up by anyone. Will be back might get a buggy next time as the hills were massive. Food and clubhouse were very nice

You need confidence and a good drive to play this course well

Pros:
It’s an exciting course, especially after hole number 5. There are blind rises on many of the holes with some pretty serious bends in the course.
The greens are amazingly well kept and consistent from one hole to the next.
Playing from evaluated tee boxes down into a valley fairway is something a bit different but a challenge and I really enjoyed it.

Cons:
The tee boxes were a bit shabby and very hard (to be fair there hasn’t been much rain)
With so many blind rises it’s hard to know exactly where you’re supposed to be aiming unless you know the course well (this was my first time playing)
The rough is deadly, if you go off the fairway you might as well drop cause it’s like a jungle either left or right of the fairway.

At the end of the day it was a great course with a lot of challenges and unique aspects that made it fun and interesting. I don’t think I would make this my best course in Cumbria but good fun for something different

Brampton

Hilly, yet perfectly walkable course. We always try and play here when we are in the vicinity as we look forward to the different challenge of each hole. Also the staff are very friendly and accommodating.

Absolutely superb course. in great condition - every single hole was excellent - don't think there is a flat bit on the course - most undulating course I can recall. Lots of elevated tees and playing uphill to greens or downhill to greens. great fun to play -thoroughly recommend.

Ah the peace and quiet!

Glorious countryside all around this course, quite a good test and a decent bacon sandwich before my round.
Teed off at 10:20am, overcast, slight breeze, but 20 degrees so ideal for golf. If only this gem wasn't 60 miles away! I wouldn't hesitate on joining.
Highly recommended.

Brampton in November

My wife and i handicaps 18 & 22 played Brampton today with the sun shining and not too much wind, the course was in superb condition even though autumn maintenance was ongoing. A very pleasant and interesting course, quite hilly in places but great scenery. Thoroughly recommend it
