Members attitude towards slow play is appalling, the course is for everyone who purchase’s a green fee. 4 hours plus on a Thursday morning for 18 is what’s killing the game!!!
If your happy with 2hours 15mins to play 8 holes behind members on a Thursday morning with no chance of being let through then here’s the golf course for you !!!!
I was quite surprised considering the amount of rain we had in the previous week how good the course was, although wet in places the ball wasn’t plugging in the fairways. The condition of the greens were the best I have ever played on here, they ran very smoothly, not played here for a few years and cannot remember them as good as this. My only gripe has nothing to do with the quality of the course, it was autumn and all the leaves have dropped and with the sun shining , hitting into the sun it looked like a thousand golf balls on the fairway... I lost two balls!!!!!
Dry fairways good greens
Playing in the midst of the prolonged dry spell, as expected the fairways were parched and brown and very hard. The greens however were well maintained, they ran very true and smooth. Whilst some had some evidence of damage the vast majority were a delight to play. There are some traps and hazards to catch the wary and over ambitious but overall a good course to play for a municipal course it was surprisingly good!
Interesting course with excellent greens
Second time I have played at Brandhall and really enjoyed the course. It is a 'pay and play' course but the condition of the course was excellent, particularly the greens. Lots of interesting holes with quite a few dog legs and good amount of sand in the bunkers. Downside is that there are no benches if you fancy a sit down and no ball washers etc but overall was an excellent round of golf. Really friendly staff and excellent 'cafe' with what looked like excellent bacon/sausage sandwiches. When you arrive it looks a bit run down but the staff really do put a lot of effort into keeping course in good condition and there were plenty of course staff mowing and maintaining the couirse.
I haven’t played this course since I was a kid many years ago. I was pleasantly surprised on how good the course is. Fairways and greens in excellent condition. The only criticism is that there were a lot of grass cuttings in the rough otherwise I really enjoyed it
Brandhall Golf Course
Enjoyable round front 9 was quite slow as quite a few groups in front. Course quite challenging and greens were very dry so difficult when trying to reach the greens in 2.
Good beginner course
As a beginner i play here more than anywhere at the moment it is a good beginner course , nothing challenging for any lower handicapper. Most holes are quite short (200 to 300 yard pars 4s) only a few long par 4 and 5s. Kept quite well for council owned leaves tend to be cleared greens are in fair condition for a cold december round. Only issue last game was two 4 balls being extremly slow, round took 5 and half hours normally round in about 3 hours
Excellent round of golf at this well maintained municpal course. Some excellent sights in the midst of Autumn and considering the falling leaves, the course fairway conditions were excellent.
Signage between holes could be better as could the sand in the bunkers - but all in all - a great days Golf.
Friendly golf shop staff and a nice cafe and bar for the 19th hole. Would recommend this course.
only play this course if you are a high handicap player. they allow 5 ball players and single players par four holes are very short this course must be one of the worst in the Midlands
