Great course
Played here before 3 years ago, it’s changed the layout to better advantage for golfers
Layout is good but the conditions are not
With this course being surrounded by extremely expensive GC's like Coxmoor and Sherwood the price for a round does not seem too bad until you play the course.
Struggles with drainage which admittedly cannot be helped, but it makes the course very difficult to play with even the slightest bit of rain.
Green are very poor and bobbly which can and should be fixed, Brown patches, pitch marks etc.
Course layout is very good. Challenging holes, some long some short, if the course was maintained better it would be perfect but unfortunately the maintenance is just is not kept to a high enough standard.
Overall it is not a terrible golf course, it gets you playing different shots and the layout is good. Conditions need to be kept to a higher standard though for it to be considered worth the price.
Testing little course
Very good test, not two holes the same.
Criticism- poorly maintained tee boxes and no water stations for golf ball cleaning
Value!
Excellent value. Course was in brilliant condition.
A good day out fairway’s little soft due rain previous day , could do with clear marking as a bit confusing
Overall the course was in very good condition, the Green are ok. Really long par 5s and really tricky shorter holes, a good challenge for established golfers. Beware of the thick rough! Would recommend…
Tricky
Lovely course holes not too long but very tricky played it fairly well, greens were fast and testing overall great day out.
Pleasant little course
Well maintained parkland course but greens were a little slow. Will definitely be back
a decent course but
a decent course and we were enjoying a decent pace until the 13th where they let in a four ball "top ten" playing 10 holes who took an age to play their shots and spoilt the round
the course should get rid of this top ten , its very annoying
Wasn’t expecting it to be that bad
I’ve read some good reviews on this course but it didn’t live up to the expectations.
The course isn’t maintained enough, the fairway is like more playing out of the rough, which sometimes made it difficult to find the ball.
The drainage wasn’t great following a good couple days of sunshine, the ball would just sink into the ground before the green!
Overall it just isn’t worth it for the price. The price we paid was £19 but that’s was due to the hot deals on this app, it is usually 25 on a weekend. I would personally look at spending a little more for much better quality and experience.
Brierley Forest GC
A very nicely manicured course with some very interesting holes especially the 10th and 12th . A course I look forward to playing again .
The fairways were nicely cut along with very good greens.
Great course
Loved the course and lay out friendly staff and players only down side was using GolfNow.com as we booked and paid to find out it hadn’t gone through to their system and had to find a spot for us during a tournament day GolfNow really didn’t do their job and wondering whether to use them again !!!
Good value for money decent layout greens a little slow and a bit worn but didn’t affect putting bunkers full of good quality sand so overall really enjoyable days golf cheap pint in clubhouse/pub would definitely play again
good for local course
Followed members competition which was fine until we caught up with a 3 ball on the 14th Tee that had let others through and although very slow indeed offered to let us through on the 18th Tee, a little late unfortunately. Course in reasonable condition some fairways require work on them nearly all the greens very quick and true but not receptive to balls hit in from a distance regardless of approach angle majority hard top surface mown very low for the time of year, worth a visit for the price some good challenging holes.
Interesting course
A most enjoyable round of golf. We hope to come back in the summer when I'm sure it will be even better
Will be back
Very friendly people
Nice course but bit flaggy due to rain
Greens bit ropey bit it was winter
Some mats didn't take tees very so may need winter tees next time we play
Interesting course with some quirky holes
Nice course with a combination of short and long holes. Overall the course is doing well in spite of the ongoing heatwave but the Greens have suffered badly.
Played in under 3 hours (as a 2 ball) with nobody else in sight. Well worth a visit for £11, you can't fault it.
"The Hot Weather Saved the Day"
Arrived at Brierley Forest Golf Club and was met with a friendly welcome at the bar and by the locals putting away their golf clubs. The saving grace was that it was a vey hot summers day. The pace of play was tediously slow all the way round culminating with 4 groups playing hole 11. We skipped holes 11 and 12 and played 13 through 18. Interestingly we had finished hole 18 when the 4 ball who appeared to be holding the field up on 11 had only just got to the 16th tee!!! The course had some pleasant and challenging holes though the course was in poor condition. Tee boxes required more attention and the greens had been lost; blotchy and patchy areas of soil. It could be a hidden gem with more green keeper attention...
No too bad
Played Brierley Forest today, still using winter tees, this course is improving, but there is still too much rough. They are installing extra drainage. Good greens and bunkers
