Poor condition
To some extent you get what you pay for. Tee boxes & fairways in very poor condition. Greens are good. The course is fairly short so not a major test of golf.
One unusual challenge is the number of locals walking the course without looking Out for golfers. Particularly interesting group of shirt free lads hanging around the 15th and another group sitting on the fairway listening to music on the 16th.
There are better places to play than this, we won’t be going back.
Fore...
First time playing this course, Saw it on GolfNow and looked at the reviews before playing. Overall I thought it was an above average course. Not a course you can just hit and hope, You have to plot your way round.
In terms of the conditions of the course I’ll start off with my positives.. the Greens (Wow) For the price of the round the greens were in excellent condition. The Tee boxes were okay and if you miss off the 1st cut rough it’s a struggle to find your ball.
It is a shame that the course has a public footpath running through the middle as it allows some people to take no consideration for the golfers. As we played up the 15th there was a set of Teenagers skidding their bikes on the green. Again Not the clubs fault. Overall - Would reccommend.
Wet not bulwell forest
Fantastic golf course condition was suburb some proper tees all on greens most courses closed because of water hardly any at bulwell forest would not have believed it until played best winter course in county
All year round, good value course.
A course that can be played year-round and comes into its own, in particular, when other courses are weather-affected.
The recent dry spell had impacted some fairways that were dry and patchy in parts. However, despite the absence of a sprinkler system clearly a lot of work had gone into maintaining the greens in superb condition.
The course is fairly easy walking despite a couple of uphill stretches and has a decent mix of holes; three of the (4) par threes being long and quite challenging.
Next door to a housing estate and frequented by dog walkers but not usually problematic; only occasionally when kids are off school and use the course as a cycle track. Great value for money.

15 of us had our Golf competition here .
Fairways are very bare and not very rewarding with a rare straight drive ! but greens in comparison are amazing. Disappointed no bunker rakes as no previous golfer even tried to smooth sand but I guess what you expect from a municipal. For a tenner each for a four ball its good value. I wish some of the par 3s were shortened as anything over 200 for me is just impossible but like I said its a decent test.
Best winter value.
Warm welcome in the pro shop on a cold day. Enabled to start before booked tee time; a plus in light of anticipated adverse weather forecast for later.
Course suffers a bit because of its position near a housing estate and is crossed by dog walkers, pedestrians and cyclists. Occasionally, idiots on motor bikes have been known to cut up a green or two. That said, the course is well maintained and greens invariably in excellent order and run true. Underfoot conditions allow play the whole year round and the Club accommodates golfers from near and far who are unable to get on their own courses or are constrained by having to play off fairway mats or on temporary greens. This serves to make Bulwell one of the best all year round courses cross Notts and Derby. There is also a warm welcome in the club house.
Overcharged me.
I booked to olay this course via the GolfNow website, and was due to pay £76 at the course, but then charged me £96. In future, make sure if you book this course via a website like GolfNow, make sure they don’t do the same.
A little gem!
Played here a number of times, greens superb, plenty of challenging holes even though it’s not the longest of courses, always a friendly welcome, green fees offer you value money.
Dyfed Davies
Great course green excellent considering dry weather recently. Excellent value for £10 will definitely play again.
dry
Not much they can do about the weather, hasn't rained in 6 weeks. Ball is rolling a long distance. Greens are pretty hard. A fair number of tight fairways on the course. Quite a few drives and short irons (playing whites). Could probably cut a few trees down on the short par four (280 yard, hole five I think). Overall interesting course.
Great autumn/winter course.
Despite heavy rain the previous day the course is quick drying and conditions were excellent underfoot. The course is easy walking and relatively short and for around a tenner represents excellent value for money; in particular over the autumn/winter months when other courses in the area are having to resort to temporary greens and fairway mats. A public footpath runs through the course and dog walkers can be a bit of a nuisance, but the fairways and greens especially are kept in really good nick. Comfortable bar area and welcoming pro staff.
Value for money.
Relatively short, easy walking course. Nice variety of holes including one short and three longish par 3s. Fairways in good shape and well-maintained greens. A public footpath crosses the course and provides for significant footfall at certain times of the day. The beauty is that this is an all year round course that drains extremely well and is dry underfoot; also providing excellent value for money at around £10 per player.
Lovely course and welcome,
Played on probably the wettest day of the year, but the course stood up well.
Good fairways and greens throughout. A very enjoyable course to play.
Points to note.
Ensure you go to the correct tee on the 17th.
Although it didn't impact upon us, makes sure you have personal liability insurance as 3 holes run parallel with one of the busiest roads in the area.
Excellent course!!
Great value for money! Course played very well and the greens were in excellent condition. Club house was very well looked after. Would recommend this course to everyone and would definately go again.
