The course was in excellent condition
The course was at it’s best excellent greens and lush fairways
Great Course
Just played here whilst on holiday, went round in just over 3 hours. Course is well kept and it was in great condition, only small negative were a stones in bunkers.
Greens are very good and true. Good variety of holes and interesting layout, forgiving fairways on some holes and then on others if you miss the fairway your ball will be gone.
I was expecting a links course with it being by the sea (with some great views) but I think it’s more or a parkland.
Great deal on GolfNow for £18, I think usual green fee is £60
Enjoyable round with coastal views
Arrived and tee’d off early. Course in very good condition for early spring. Not very busy behind us which allowed for a cracking and relaxing round in nice weather.
Enough challenges but fairly forgiving off the tee that lent to a decent score for me.
Great views across the bay, just over 3 hours for the round. The clubhouse was welcoming afterwards. Will definitely play this again.
Xmas Golf
I have played here many times but this was early December. The course particularly the greens were in brilliant condition.Msny courses would be pleased if greens wer that good in summer.
The views from the course are brilliant and very scenic over StAustell bay.The first 10 holes follow the cliff top with amazing views.
This is a very nice course and the club house and staff are all very helpful and professional.
Definitely worth playing there if you get the chance.
Good value but tee times booked too late!
We played the course with another very friendly couple & were behind a 2-ball. The 2 -ball was booked at 12.30 & we were booked at 12.35, which I thought was as late as possible for a comfortable 18 holes! Sunset was 16.45! Unfortunately, there were at least 2 groups booked behind us. We played at a reasonable pace but were pressured by the group behind, which somewhat diminished our enjoyment.
It seems that the pro shop are trying to cram too many players on the course!
Carlyon Golf Club
Great cliff top course, especially the outward 9 with views of the sea. A lovely autumn day made for some lovely golf. Used backup tees and greens not in the best of shape but a lovely round of golf in a wonderful setting. What better way to spend a November afternoon?
Blown Away!
40mph gusts and lots of horizontal rain! Couse was still in great condition. Staff in shop and bar were really attentive and friendly. Will definitely play again hopefully in better conditions :)
A good course on holiday
The course was in excellent condition, the tees mostly generous fairways and lovely undulating greens were perfect. The staff and the clubhouse were extremely friendly.
Just a couple of negatives are no distance markers about which is not good particularly on a couple of blind holes and seriously uphill fairways to the greens. Also a couple of dog walkers were playing and walking their dogs and with passing the dogs round slowed down the pace of play. In my opinion dogs should not be allowed to walk whilst playing it’s also a distraction for other golfers.
Will I play Carlton Bay again? Yes certainly it’s a lovely course.
Second visit and even better
We thoroughly enjoyed our second visit to Carlyon Bay Golf Club. Really enjoyed the course which was challenging in parts and with spectacular views. All the greens are in very good condition and I couldn’t fault the course. Stopped for a drink afterwards with lovely views across the sea. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely return if we were in the area again.
