Course now closed
I booked a tee time for Saturday 28th September.
Unfortunately, on my arrival the gates were closed and locked with sign reading 'course closed, will reopen as a pay and play course'.
I contacted Tee Off Times and was assured that my payment would be refunded.
I strongly advise calling the course or Tee Off Times for further information
Golf club in liquidation
Unfortunately this club has now been closed permanently (or until a new owner can be found)..... unfortunate as it was my first club with great staff and very friendly members... fingers crossed a new owner can be found who will run it properly!
When I played at the course the greens were fast and the course was in great condition
Good value friendly course.
Not a bad course but tends to dry out in the summer, greens good but almost impossible to hold. Fairways ok but again very hard so plenty of run. Friendly bar and staff for a beer after.
The best I’ve seen it
Course in good condition and fairways were really good as well as the greens. Best I’ve seen it at Carswell in years. Keep up the good work and it will bring more people. Looking better every year.
Nice afternoons golf
Course played well, weather was good but it had been a dry spell so struggled to get the tee’s in at times. Greens were in pretty good nick but the bunkers could do with more sand in them. Clubhouse was nice and the staff all friendly. Overall, enjoyable round of golf, pace of play was really good and would recommend it for a round.
Just feedback the Bunkers were lacking of sand but apart from that overall the course was in good condition.
Fantastic course, greens well maintained. Greens are small, and the course is challenging. The course was very dry but this was expected. HC 20
Carswell at Christmas
A Christmas meet up for 7 of us. Course played well and greens were in good condition for time of year - bunkers also now had sand in which was an improvement on when I last played here.
Staff very helpful
Course layout good and in reasonable conditions, staff very friendly and accommodating
Slow play by seniors
Despite assurances that the tee time (1154) would provide sufficient clearance to separate the slower playing seniors, this was certainly not the case. So much so, we abandoned the course after the 10th not willing to be delayed further. It took 2hrs 10 min to reach our exit. Avoid Tuesdays may be sensible.
Good value for money
Staff very friendly and helpful. Course has a good layout and is not in bad condition given blisteringly hot weather of past few months. For the price I think good value for money and would play again.
Played Carswell with three friends. Good interesting course, fairway condition in places was poor due to the recent hot weather but the greens were very good. Tee'd off on time and a good pace of play. Had a meal after golf in the club house, good selection of food which we all enjoyed. Very pleasant days golf and would play Carswell again.
Good course. But needs work. The bunkers are in poor condition . Might be going through change of ownership .
Lovely colours in the spring
Considering it’s been such a wet spring the course was in very good condition and surprisingly dry underfoot. I’d recommend this course.
