Course is good
Really liked the course, but the slow play ahead of us was frustrating
5* COURSE & EXPERIENCE
I can't recommend this place enough. From pulling into the car park and seeing a world class clubhouse to checking in at the shop and being greeted by a quality team with one of the best driving ranges I've seen.
The quality of the course especially the greens in winter was outstanding especially considering all the rain the UK has had.
A gem of a course which I highly recommend.
Some holes not in use for ground maintenance and others waterlogged so missed out on full experience.
Staff and facilities very good
Carus Green Challenge
First time at Carus Green and had heard good things about the course. It didn't disappoint and I hope to play it again. The course was wet because it's October and in the South Lakes but held up OK with preferred lies. The par 3 holes were played off mats but the other holes were off proper tees but this didn't affect the play. The course has some really challenging holes specially on approach and must be more challenging off competition tees as the extra distance would make a difference on quite a few holes. There were a couple of holes undergoing new bunker installations which will add to the course definition.
The pros shop was well stocked and the clubhouse restaurant very busy which was good to see but only because we got the last table!
Overall value for money but if I play again it'll be in the summer.
Phone for time
We booked using Golf Now and paid £0 each. If we had phoned the course we would have been charged £20 each!!
Will always phone before using GolfNow in future.
This course has nice features
Played carus after having it being recommended by a friend. As I was looking forward to playing I found it a big disappointment, tees were poor, greens had been dressed and putting was poor on them. Course is too short and too tight , and just was'nt for me. Maybe good in summer conditions.
A good challenge.
First time playing here, course was is reat condition. Plenty of challenges off the fairways for an errant tee shot with the winding River Kent. Greens in great condition. And a superb 18th hole to provide one last challenge. Will definitely be playing again.
Immaculate
Booked a last minute tee time whilst away in the Lake District - this course was immaculate from tee to green considering the dry weather currently - tee boxes presented great, fairways striped and lush green, greens rolling true and at a decent pace.
Big driving range with plenty of targets and use of top tracer for a pre round warm up.
Very enjoyable round, some great scenic holes and a course you need to plan your way off the tee as it isn't the longest but a lot of dog legs with water running either side of the fairways. 18th is a great finishing hole and it's well worth staying for one in the 19th on the balcony with the view back down the 18th green!
Lake District Beauty
Played this course during the gorgeous week of weather at the start of August.
Had 30mins on the Toptracer driving range then 10mins on the challenging putting green.
Booked as a 2 ball but managed to convince a member to join us and show us the way round.
Course was in the best condition possible with lush green grass.
Hole 1 makes you think the course is just about aesthetics as it is just a 130yd flick to a flatish green with stunning views of the lake district hills.
Lost 2 balls within the next 3 holes!! Large streams from the hills border or cross many of the holes!
There is a great mix of short risk reward and longer par 4s. All of the shorter ones with water from tee to green!!
Had such a great time playing this immaculate course with its stunning views!
Clubhouse is great too with balcony views over the 18th green.
Managed to get a decent deal too via GolfNow.
Would strongly recommend this course to anyone looking to play around the lake district.
Enjoy
Everything was perfect from start to finish of the round. My only grumble would be that the bar wasn't open for a beer after the round.
Met a lovely gentleman called Alex who runs the club shop who asked how we were enjoying the round and offered a bit of advice. All friendly people that we encountered.
Course in poor condition. Tees mostly temporary with poor tees in them and poor signage from green to temporary tees.
Enjoyed
The course for the time of year was in great condition also had a cracking deal so made all the better. I have played all round the country and don’t think I have met friendlier staff from club shop to bar staff 10/10. We will be back as think this course will be fantastic in the summer months
Wouldnt pay full price in the same scenario
Played following quite extensive rain in the AM with some standing water and were informed that it would still be £40 to play despite the course being empty. There was some quite boggy areas but in fairness a lot of the greens ran nicely. The course is short of variation, a lot of the holes feel like the exact same hole repeated. The par 3s are all under 160ish amd the first hole is a 130yd par3 which feels very much like a space filler. The par 5 15 is a brilliant thinking hole to play. Overall i liked the course but feel like the full price is rather steep. The driving range is a top class facility
