First time playing after good reviews. course in good condition. some great short par 3s fairways good greens good undulating . Great countryside views. Only slight negative tee off ground was not the best , but to be fair we just had 3 days rain, and a bit more info , such as hole diagram on a board would help , show lay out of hole, overall well worth 30.00 will play again
Play this couse you will not be disappionted
We had to play on 3 temporary greens (because of frost) which did not spoil the round. The welcome in the pro shop was superb, The course layout brilliant. The overall experience was that good we intend to run a trip to the Buxton area next year and play this course twice, yes it is that good! This was the last day of October so we wondered how fast the greens will be in summer! Look forward to playing this again.
Great course that has some really challenging holes, the only negative thing was the greens had all been worked on and they were patchy. Would like to play it again, friendly staff in pro shop and the bar.
Good but a tough walking course
Played Cavendish for the first time in a mixed four ball. It was quite a hot and humid day and the course was extremely hard and fast following the prolonged dry spell. This made it quite difficult to keep control of the ball and with a number of holes having sloping fairways it made it even more difficult. There are some excellent holes and the par threes were all very good. There are a lot of tough walks from green to the next tees and a buggy or electric trolley is recommended. I would like to play it again in more normal conditions.
First time round this course, excellent midweek price. Friendly staff, Course itself was in very good nick considering the exteme weather. Greens were fantastic. Overall great day, would recommend.
One for the biog!
The Cavendish - quite simply the best value green fee I have ever paid. Rachel in the pro shop is lovely - very welcoming. The course was in great nick and every hole is a different challenge. The greens are tough - v fast. The course is one you will never forget. Give it a go - you won’t regret it!
What a lovely challenging course. Downside is that some of the greens and tees are quite close together.
Lovely course with friendly staff and members
Played this course a few times now and thoroughly enjoyed it every time. Everyone there makes you feel very welcome. Course was still a bit damp which is not surprising after the winter we've had. A very tough back 9!
After reading the excellent reviews, we decided to travel 60 miles to play this course, but tee mats were in place on all holes and some temporary greens were in use. Having played over a dozen courses for the first time in 2017, sadly this one was the only one that failed to live up to its reputation. Other than the Par 3's, which impressed with their elevated tees on to greens many feet below, no hole stood out
The course is great
The best course I have played great fairways great greens definitely will be playing here regularly.
Don't let the short yardage on the card fool you. You will be tested here. Course played much longer due to the wet conditions, and green speeds were moderate - which was a blessing. Play this course in dry conditions, with fast greens, and par on any hole is an excellent score.
In addition to the great history of the course, beautiful views, and challenging golf- the staff and members whom I met were absolutely the best. Extremely kind, generous, and hospitable to visitors. I was treated like royalty. Cavendish has given me a day to remember forever - and I played in miserable conditions of wet, cold, windy weather...and had a great time.
Simply a must-play if you are in the central UK.
Fantastic course, superbly designed as expected by Mackenzie, it didn't disappoint. Both staff and members were very welcoming. One of the best courses I've played in a long time, not long but take your A game!
Started playing back golf 8 weeks ago after 5 years off n I've been some different courses n have to say this is the best I've played within a 60 mile radius ..the fairways were lovely.some great downhill par 3s n only one tough par 5 ..met the captain who was with a guy from golfnation doing the top 100 courses in England well this is one of them
The first few holes are very hilly and gets you thinking "this is going to be hard work" but after that, the course flattens out. The course is amazing and is in top condition. Lot's of great features and well placed bunkers. The rough is forgiving unless you go wide, which is how it should be!
The greens are good! Really quick, but good and run true. Cant wait to come here again.
The Pie & Chips was pretty good too : )
The weather on the day was bad , but the course made up for it,
Great course design, fabulous greens, but tricky..
The bar was shut for refurbishment which was a shame.
Pro shop very friendly staff.
Will definitely return, but on s sunny day as I guess the views will be fabulous.
Great course, great welcome. Would join if I lived a bit closer.
A true gem
A fantastic layout with a stunning backdrop, some truly great holes and not one hole that disappoints. Greens were fast and true and the course was in excellent condition.
A must course to play.
Great design from the designer of Augusta USA, it is said that this was a practice for USA. Fabulous condition, although a short course definitely not easy lot of shots lost on the legendary fast greens.
What a fantastic course, not long but very challenging greens where in great condition and views where to die for ,the staff and members where very welcoming cant wait to play this again.
