Massively overpriced
Started out promising with some interesting and well kept holes. Unfortunately, half the holes were on a piece of land which resembled a farmer’s field (unsuccessfully) converted into a golf course. Layout was ok with a few dog legs requiring putting your ball in the right spot. Bunkers generally lacking in enough sand. Greens ran pretty true but not particularly interesting complexes. To be fair to it, the pace of play was fantastic for a Saturday morning. The views were ok but nothing compared to other (and much better) courses I’ve played nearby like Shrigley and Disley.
Ultimately, the reason I felt compelled to write this review was that I feel totally ripped off paying £45 for the pleasure. I won’t be back.
Great little find! Loved it.
We booked a 7.30am slot and really enjoyed this cause. Lady in the pro shop was lovely. Had a few ciders in the outside bar afterwards. Lots of long par 5’s, course in great nick, some challenging greens too. Smashing course will definitely be going back
Course conditions
When we arrived at the course we were told that half the course was closed for maintenance but the other nine holes available ;we decided to play the nine holes available however the bunkers were in a poor state with grass growing in many of them and others in need of attention also the grass was in need of cutting : we had driven 30 miles to play this course and would not have done so if we knew the situation at the time . The club professional was apologetic but said the club had informed Golf Now of the situation and it was up to Golf Now to to inform us which did not happen , we await your reply
A real gem
This course starts with a bang , a dogleg par 5 , a great mixture of risk reward scoreable holes and longish tough par 4’s .
The green complexes are really tricky and severely undulating, you definitely need to be on the right side of the pins - being short-sided is pretty much at least a one shot penalty . Overall , this course is quite generous off the tee , it is a great test of golf and full of interesting structured holes.
I would recommend anyone to play this real gem of a course
Chapel Golf Club
I hadn't played Chapel for 30 years, so a round one Monday morning was just what the doctor ordered.
I was pleasantly surprised by the course, excellent condition, longer than I remembered too.
Yes the hike to the 8th is the worst part of the club but the over the road 9 feel different and more relaxed.
I shot 101 and I want to come back to beat that.
Cheers Chapel.
Chapel en le Frith
Have played the coarse several times in the past, however played today and was very disappointed, the coarse geography has been changed, ie the 12th hole is now the first hole, the greens were unevenly cut and very slow, and the bunkers we visited were very short of sand.
excellent course, challenging in places (as evidenced by it’s slope index). Fairways & greens kept in very good condition (could do with some work on the bunkers).
it has 2 sets of 9 holes each with a different character. remarkably flat given the surroundings, the glorious valley in the peak district.
Great first visit
We’ll worth a visit course was in good condition staff friendly. Coffee and bacon barm very good. We’ll be back for sure.
Amazing course
Stunning greens fairways and bunkers. Staff were so friendly can’t wait to get back out there 100% a great course.
Challenging and interesting round of golf
Friendly members and a course in very good condition. Delayed a bit by a Thursday morning seniors match
Different set up from last time I played but still an amazing course some real quirky holes and some amazing views , will definitely be playing this again
Very Good Course
From the moment we got there the staff were very friendly and the service before, during and after was brilliant. The terrace area outside the clubhouse, overlooking the 18th green is very nice and is a good place to sit and have a drink after your round. The course has a good mixture of holes and the views of the countryside and reservoir make it a very enjoyable. We played quite early so the pace of play was very good and never had anyone holding us up. It was in very good condition as you’d expect for the time of year. All in all a great experience and would definitely play there again.
Best round in ages
Course layout changed since last played and the app I use hadn't been updated. However the course was great and played really well. Was disappointed with it last time but not this. Really worth the money
