Lovely Course, greens weren’t great
Enjoyed the round, quite annoying that they have changed all the holes around so the gps Apps/watches don’t know what hole you’re in for distances etc
Simple course
Simple, steady course. A lot of walking between a couple of holes and paths between those were terrible. I’d play again but not at the price we paid today.
Lovely course in a great setting
Really nice well kept course. Clearly had some work done to it but it was settling in nicely. Course was in good condition for the time of year and the greens were fast. Some greens were just recovering from summer preperations but nothing to grumble about. We were asked to join a couple of members who were very friendly and gave us some good course knowledge. My only recommendation is to put better signage up from the 7th to the 8th across the road.
Great for a Winter Round
Chapel is very friendly, nice staff and a warm welcome. Like all the Peak area clubs the train affects the course but they have done a great job keeping it enjoyable, playable and all greens open. Mats for tees were above average quality too so all in all a very challenging and lovely game.
Great course!
I booked originally as a one ball for 18 holes, but when I got there I was booked to play with 2 other golfers, which I didn’t mind because who doesn’t like a bit of competition!
Course was excellent considering the time of year, little muddy in some areas but it’s the end of December.
Well kept course and will be great in the summer.
I will be playing there again.
Great course on a wet day
It rained pretty much throughout the round but the course held up really well and the greens were in great condition despite the weather. Some of the fairways were a bit muddy but it was the best course I’ve played in a while.
Lovely friendly pro and members
Course was a lovely parkland style. In great condition, only downside was they had not long done the work to the greens which meant we never really got to see how good the greens could be. Maybe would have been good to know this before booking. Some stunning views on the holes across the road. 1st-9th. Fantastic, will go back again for sure.
layout confusing - in middle of changing it
clubhouse should have given clearer instructions of where to go - we missed 6 holes due to going wrong way - they're in process of changing layout - e.g. the first is now the eleventh- then you have to cross the road on numerous occasions!!
Simple paper instructions would have sufficed
so only 12 holes wasn't great value
£25 for hard work to be ruined by terrible greens
3 ball played. Usually this course is in superb condition but this time round the greens were terrible. What looks like drainage holes filled with sand on every green. For all your hard work to be ruined once you got to the green due to the bobbles and Inconsistent role was definitely not worth £25. We will not be returning for a while now until We know it will be worth it. Shame as we like playing here.
Chapel
1st time played here, tee off at 7.20 shame there was no one in the club house or cards left out also the greens where just tyned and sanded. Would definitely play here again next year
Very enjoyable
Second time I have played here and I enjoyed it both times, the layout is a bit quirky and helps if you know where you are going (course planner would be helpful as can’t always get mobile reception). Interesting holes though with dog legs so you have to think your way round. Unfortunately the greens had been dressed, I’d love to play them at their best in the summer as some great/ tricky undulations. Would definitely recommend to play, staff in the pro shop are very friendly.
First time playing course
Played course with husband and put with 2 other players we hadn't met before. The greens had just been dressed and hollow tined so we're not great to putt on. The course was a good test though and each hole was different. I would recommend the course to other players but was a little disappointed we hadn't checked on the state of the greens when we booked. I would imagine normally the greens would be in good condition. I will go back and play when the greens are at their best.
Lovely scenic course
Played for the first time, will definitely be back again. Unfortunately the course was a bit soggy in places with all the rain of late but still a great course in beautiful surroundings. Great backdrop and setting a good level of challenge, great variety of holes. They’re changing the order of holes so the 12th is becoming the first, with the 11th now becoming the 18th. This was a little odd as you play 7 holes, go over the road and play the old front 9 then come back for 2 holes, but only a very minor thing, didn’t detract from the round
