Great condition
Loved playing this course, my only complaint was I booked through tee times and unfortunately one player couldn't make it last minute and I had to foot the bill. So ended up being an expensive round!
Great day spoilt by the weather
Welcome, changing facilities, clubhouse and staff were absolutely first class. Tee boxes and greens were in very good condition. 50% of the fairways were very sodden and/or covered with leaves. It was the first week of December when most other courses were restricted or closed so the conditions were expected. Will definitely be back once we have a dry spell.
Great course with great friendly Staff
The course was in great condition. The staff were lovely.
Only thing I would say is that it is quite expensive at £50 per person in October
Nice course, that needs some TLC
Having played Chipping Sodbury before I know its potential. However when we visited we found the greens to slow and full of divots. The grass on the tee boxes was longer than expected (had to change from Green to Red tees). The Layout is great. We had food afterwards and this was great and served in a friendly professional manner.
Great course, Rude staff.
Checked in for my Tee time at the office and the gentleman there was super rude and looked at me like an alien when I asked if he had any tees for sale..
Great course, deceptively long.
Booked this last minute as needed to find a course north of Bristol. Wasn’t sure what to expect and the drive up the lane to the club, the clubhouse and the pro shop are a little underwhelming. Staff are very friendly and courteous.
Once out on the course it was a good test for me (nine handicap) and it offered a good challenge. The course is deceptively long but isn’t too challenging so suits golfers of all levels although high handicap golfers may find the length a little intimidating.
The course is in great condition with both fairways and greens really well maintained. My only real criticism if anything is that the greens are on the small side.
If you play it for the first time you’ll definitely need a course planner or a good golf satnav otherwise you could be losing a few balls.
Definitely recommend it although it may never appear in your top 10 golf courses.
Great parkland course
Lovely course, great layout. Only had a few clubs in a pencil bag as on holiday but it didn't take too much away from the course not having a driver. Approaching was much easier from the fairways as rough was lush so accuracy was a better play, and there is some nice looking par 3's.Only disappointment, which I have at other courses, was range balls all up the left hand side of the 18th(which is a par 5 dog leg left). Pulled my second into the trees just off the fairway and as there where people hitting range balls at the time I didn't fancy trawling through the choice of balls to find mine. Minor thing and would look forward to playing the course again.
Baldies golf day
Stopped to play here and this was first visit
Amenities great and course nice and quite challenging
Very popular / pace of play quite slow but worth having a bit of patience .
Will come back again when I am next in the area maybe
Thanks
Nice course - slow play
Has a good round, and course is excellent challenge. Day spoiled by 4 ball two groups in front who steadfastly refused to let anyone through
Well set out course
We enjoyed our game at chipping sodbury. Nice easy course to follow not too challenging but with a few difficult holes. Greens were very slow and looked very strange with blue fertiliser! Found the facilities a little below what we expect for £42 per person. Pros shop very small, would have liked to have been able to see the course from the drinks area . But overall a nice course.
2-ball
Played after a number of days of wet weather.
The course was in good condition but the fairways don’t drain well.. The greens were in great condition and they do drain well.
On this particular day the fairways were a touch too.
Regardless of the above, I really enjoyed the course, not too many difficult slopes, instead hazards and lots of water lead to a course that definitely requires plotting. It’s not a ‘hit as long as you can’ course.
Staff were really friendly and members all very pleasant.
I shall be back next summer to play again. Just one to avoid after a lot of rain fall.
A good challenge
We had played the course about 10 years ago and not thought much of it but we enjoyed it this time.
It has quite a few long par 4s which are a challenge and quite a few water ditches that make you think about club selection. There’s enough space to relax but some greens are well guarded by water which mixes it up a bit.
They were starting lots of people off the tenth and unfortunately this led to an excruciatingly slow front 9. Pace picked up for the back 9 though. Friendly club house and members.
Lovely course staff welcoming. Spoilt a little by some a*se who decided to kick off over a mistake.
A pristine course in very good condition for the time of year. Made to feel welcome on arrival and to be fair had a very good round, all spoilt because one doddery idiot decided to make such a big deal over one of our party making a mistake by playing his number 3 prov1 instead of his own number 3 prov1 that were side by side in the rough. Yes our guy made a mistake and apologised but the bloke continued to make a proper deal about it (this was a Monday morning round not the US open and they weren’t even in a comp it turns out!!). But apart from this incident very good.
Many thanks Chipping Sodbury.
