Enjoyable for a one-off visit

Having re-scheduled our game directly with the Pro (which was very accommodating) they did not have the booking recorded when we arrived. They were able to give us a tee time but with just 10 mins notice so a scramble to get sorted and on the tee!
The course was in decent condition and very forgiving. We were nearly hit by a ball on 3 occasions however; once due to a wayward ball on a tight line between holes and twice when the people behind us hit on blind areas (despite a clear sign saying wait for the bell). They. knew play was slow as we had exchanged a few words and they knew the slow play was not us as we were waiting on every tee and hole so it was dangerous play on their part.
Play was slow due to the no of four balls out ahead of us but we did manage to finish in under 4 hours - just.
We quite enjoyed the round as you do when faced with a new course. It would not be top if my list to play again however.

Very accomodating

The professional was very helpful. Managed to slot us in in spite of the online booking not being transmitted to the course.

Downhill Slope

I have played at Churston on a number of occasions, however this experience was pleasurable.
Arrived in plenty of time and went to book into the pro shop.... what pro shop.... completely empty room and apparently the Pro had left. No course information was available. Managed to book in and went to the bar area where it felt if we had walked into a private party.... other members pushed past us and commanded the attention of the bar staff, who seemed unhappy and easily distracted from welcoming or serving visitors. Broken and falling tiles in the toilet and a strange stale smell of dampness in the changing rooms. The clubhouse looks tired and in need of TLC and an injection of welcoming spirit.
Finally arrived at the 1st where we were informed that the times were 20 mins late, which meant that we would struggle to complete the round before darkness. An extremely slow round with the 4 ball in front dropping 2 holes from the group in front and not waving us through. Poor show.
Only managed to complete 14 holes with any form of daylight.
Surely offering Tee times to visitors, knowing that they would struggle to complete the full 18 which they have paid for, is not in the spirit of the game.

Great course with really friendly members

My wife and I visited this course while on our travels around Europe. Even though we booked through the teeofftimes website the pro shop guy gave us great attention in ensuring we knew the layout of the course and other relevant information.
The course wends it’s way through nearby housing, creating an ‘out and back’ course, but we never felt cramped, as can often be the case in some Spanish ‘urbanisation’ courses. The course was bone dry because of the prolonged heatwave, but the greens were excellent.
We found the members to be very friendly, with a good number approaching us to ask how we enjoyed their course.
This club has a lovely, friendly feel, and we’d definitely play again if we’re in the area.

Lovely course.... Fast greens

As first timers at this course we were very pleased with the conditions and the hospitality. The greens were in lovely condition but quite fast so tricky to read! Will definitely return for another round and recommend to any golfer.

Cold weather
Walked

Played winter course with some forward tees

Greens were sanded on all but with only one temporary green. It was -2 degrees C with little wind so it was still very enjoyable to play. Couse layout and views very good.
Some long par 4's and good bunkering
Would come again hopefully in warmer weather

no help from the pro shop

our tee time was 2.02pm we got to the course early has bad weather was forecast early evening. we were told in the pro shop we could not tee off early due to a couple of ladies matches and fourballs going before us. we waited in the club house and no one teed off for at least an hour. we ended up only playing 16 holes due to bad weather.

Good day

Course was on good condition. Greens were a bit slow and rough was very penalising in places. Lots of blind holes so it does help if you play it more than once. Very friendly pro shop staff even though I was on a feeebie. Took time to introduce me to the others on my tee time. All in all a good day
