Decent course.

Played Clayton tonight. Decent 9 holer. Course in excellent condition. Only downside is maybe sign posting the hole numbers and yardages as was quite confusing where to tee off next! Had to ask a couple of other lads on the course where to play from. Had to cut it short due to bad light but would deffo play again! 👍👍

Nice little course

Good little 9 hole course. Couple of temporary greens but they were in decent condition. Long enough to keep it interesting. Members are always nice as I only
Play occasionally and end up on everyone else’s fairways.

50 50 rating

2nd time playing here and dont think ill return
The course has some nice long holes but also has 2 really poor greens that are literally plonked on top of a hill ( inc the "famous" kop hole)
There is also another bizaree sloping green on the 6th hole
The greens were in decent condition but the tee boxes are horrendous
You actually tee on a raised mound on some, which does nothing for your balance and control of your swing.
Never met anybody at reception, both times nobody about and just walked on.
I wouldn't say dontt play it, but after 2 visits, ill give it a miss from now

Great all around

Really nice course, scenic and a unique layout. Very friendly and welcoming members who helped us out when confused about certain tee boxes. Highly recommend for round of 9 or 18.

Very friendly and welcoming

My mate and i played clayton for the first time today and will definitely be going back. It is the friendliest golf course we have ever been to. Everybody from 25 year members to occasional players came over to chat.
The course is a well run, will kept lovely course without the aids and graces that you can often encounter at other clubs.
The facilities are first class and the grounds keepers worked all day keeping it in excellent condition.

Nice 9 Holer

This is a really nice course, but quite confusing if you're playing it for the first time. I spent quite a while just trying to figure out where the next tee was.

The greens are fairways were in a pretty decent condition, with accommodating fairways that generally allowed you to take a driver. There are a couple of raised tees that allowed wonderful views over the course.

I'd certainly come back if I were in the neighbourhood.

Great value

My teenage nephew and I really enjoyed playing Clayton. An interesting layout with elevated tees and greens plus internal out of bounds. Perfect for high handicappers to increase experience.

Cracking course

Excellent course in really good condition and maintenence. Well kept fairways and manageable rough but many trees and well positioned bunkers/ditches reward accuracy and add interest. Some testing holes, especially 8/17 th with it's highly elevated green. Superb but testing greens make even the best approach shots, not a formality finish.
Slight downside is the lack of hole numbering, direction and yardage markings but the friendly, green keepers and regulars were very helpful and also informeded us that this was in the process of getting upgraded. Would recommend and hopefully play again.

Didn't even hit a shot without being pulled up!

Stood on the first tee, hadn't even pulled a club out and we had a member telling us that we hadn't booked a tee time and we shouldn't be teeing off. I proceeded to tell him that we had booked a tee time and showed him the email from the gold club, confirming our tee time.

The course was in great nick apart from being poorly sign posted and we ended up playing holes in the wrong order. Much to the dismay of the members again... They were fast to tell us we had made a mistake and should now let groups through because we had got it wrong etc.

If I was looking for a prospective golf club to join then I would have been put off straight away by the members heckling us throughout our time on the course. Not a club for younger players but the course and greens was in good condition!

Great and unique

Played at Clayton for the first time. Course was in good condition and the greens were true. Very interesting course with some “generous” elevation changes. Good pace of play and the “locals” were incredibly friendly. Definitely worth every penny.

Fantastic 9 Hole Course

Fantastic 9 hole course. Well worth the value for money. Has some challenging holes and the 8th and 9th are two brilliantly designed holes. Will definitely use again. A must try.
