Very disappointing Birthday round
To say I’m disappointed with the round I played here on and for my Birthday yesterday is an understatement, upon arrival I was told that they had done some maintenance to the greens on the back 9, that they had been too dressed however has been rolled etc and would still be fine just wouldn’t play as well as the front 9 fine I had no issue with this at all we all understand maintenance is required, we were told we needed to start on the 9th also again fine I presumed they were doing this to spread out the tee times again I had no issues with this. My frustration came when 2 out of our 4 ball went in the pro shop after playing the back 9 to be told we were not allowed to play the front 9 as it was closed and we would have to play the back 9 again, this is a disgrace if this was going to be the case I should have been told first thing when I went into the pro shop to check in and pay for the golf buggy’s instead of being lied to by the first chap and charged the full price of £60 for both buggies, had I known I would have demanded a refund as I was not going to be getting what I’d payed for and what was advertised and I would have gone and played at Delapre instead or Kingsthorpe two courses that haven’t been swayed by greed building houses on their golf course and reducing it dramatically, and two courses that are well maintained rather than being forced to play off winter style tees in the height of summer, along with workman’s tools strewn around the course hammers, hacksaws and screwdrivers in the thought and other areas of the course that looked like dumping areas for rubbish with chemical bottles, lumps of wood and other items.
Hidden gem
First time I have played here .
Pro in the shop was friendly and accommodating. Course lay out on the first few hole are a bit strange however the course was in great condition.
Fairways nicely mowed and second cut good off that was a bit brutal.
Greens were in good condition running very true and some extremely hard pin potions. I walked and carried and its a tough slog .
Signature hole had to be the 18th drove great hit a 7 iron into position to hit the 3rd into a sawgrass par 3 hole over looked by the clubhouse.
Overall thoughally enjoyed the course and what was even better we paired up with ciral and Bill who were fantastic company..definitely worth a visit
Great course In fantastic condition.
I play different courses all the time but Collingtree is without doubt in the best condition of any course I’ve played this year. Greens are very quick and immaculate. Was understandably fairly busy but pace of play was very good. As mentioned by others on here the pro shop isn’t the biggest but has all the essentials. Also mentioned previously by others but the pro shop staff aren’t the friendliest, they were too busy talking to the captain of another club and I stood there being ignored for a good five minutes. Even just a quick acknowledgment would have been good.
Fab course and super friendly team in the Pro shop
Despite 4 days of rain the course was in great condition, greens were true and airways well defined.
Change of layout
Having not played this course since covid it was a shock to see some of the course changes, losing holes 2 £ 3 is a shame. Tee boxes very poor, need a good cut.
Excellent course
I was well impressed with the course , greens in great condition for time of year running true and good pace , would highly recommend playing
Fantastic course
Played here for the first time yesterday and I was really impressed. The staff were very welcoming and friendly from the off, the course layout and condition was very good and must say probably the best greens I’ve played on. Will definitely be returning.
Best course I've played this year
Lightning fast undulating greens which are soft and huge, tight tee shots, lots of water, lots of sand in the bunkers, very pretty course similar standard to Northants County and better greens than Peterborough Milton which is saying something. Only problem is due to recent changes in layout none of the sat nav holes correlate.
Nice course, can be a tough course to play, designed very well.
Had a nice day at Collingtree Park, greens were superb, fairways were ok considering the recent weather conditions, tees were ok, some good some a little sparce. For the cost would definitely visit again soon.
Poorly kept course and not as advertised!
The course has changed and is no longer the length advertised. Very poor condition, no maps of each hole and a lot of blind holes. Hard if you don’t know where you are going. A lot of water which makes for and interesting course but the overall condition of divots everywhere, poor greens full of pitch marks and bunks like I have never seen before. Sand if you can call it that full of rocks, not raked and overall just a poor looking course! Won’t be back!
Love it and hate it
Don’t get me wrong I do love this course. So much variety in shots that it is never dull, however . . .there are two main issues with playing here. The first is one linked to its location. Interweaving between some very grand houses and being constantly reminded about liability if balls go out of bounds makes this a stressful round, especially when you see the opulence of some of the houses. The second is that the new building site next door and dry weather made much of the first nine a dust storm. The course was very parched as well and due to the slow grass growth not much mowing had occurred and so the weeds were clearly evident which made some of the fairways look very bog standard. Greens were immaculate and tee boxes were fine apart from the dust pit that is the 10th tee. Like I said I do love this course but the tee shot on 18 was enough for me to pick up and walk off. As a slicer there was no way I was risking an OB with cars just over a fence!
Enjoyable
First time playing at collingtree for a few years, was surprised to see the old club house and driving range is now a housing estate !
The course was playing firm and fast, the fairways were very baked out but the greens were still in excellent condition.
The bad points were a temporary tee on the 10th which was literally a patch of dirt in the rough under some trees ! There was a mat which would've been preferable but it wasn't in use for some reason ? I was also shocked by the new 17th hole, teeing off from an artificial grass tee box ? I would've expected something a lot better from a previous European tour venue. Bad points aside it was a very enjoyable day with friendly staff and very good greens. Will probably return but only on a 'hot deal' price.
A long course but a nice course
Had a great time at Collingtree on Saturday - good course and greens in decent condition
Excellent
staff friendly and helpful course was fantastic not too hard but still challenging
6 par 3’s
It a shame the course has 6 par 3’ due to some of the course being sold of for houses.
