Best Condition ever.
Played here for the first time since lockdown on Saturday the 3rd July and the course is in the best condition I have ever seen it. The fairways were all well manicured and with plenty of grass cut to ideal length. Greens are all in excellent nick, running true with reasonable pace and quite receptive. The furniture that has been added to the course bin the way of gates and fences to guide walkers along with the tidying up around ponds along with the mowing patterns are really pleasing on the eye. Staff in pro shop and lounge very helpful and friendly. Had a beer on the patio area after what was a very enjoyable and pleasantly warm and dry day given the forecast.
A Lovely Golf Course
Colne Valley is an interesting layout and set in beautiful surroundings. Good greens although a little slow.
We really enjoyed our round and the lunch was good also.
Great course
Lovely course fairways lovely greens lovely only thing I would say maybe just a little better signage to get you from some holes to next tee other than that perfect course
Excellent day with excellent playing conditions.the course had a championship feel with quite high
Secondary rough.just off the fairway and you were penalised heavily.
Course management key.not a course for drivers.very nice greens in superb order running quite fast.
It’s a shame some players don’t repairs pitch marks on greens.
It’s a lovely course to play with very nice friendly members and restaurant and golf staff
Being very helpful and accommodating.
We will definitely be playing this course again.highly recommended.
Tried this course off the back of another review.
We paid £11 after 12:30 on golf now as we are trying new courses and this one didnt disappoint. Challenging, well kept fairways and greens. After all the bad weather as of late I didnt expect much but I was wrong. A good winter course.
Fantastic course, great day
The staff were very friendly and helpful when we arrived, the course was in perfect condition, for anytime of year let alone November and especially after the recent weather, no temporary greens or tees loved the day, would highly recommend
Course in need of water
One of my favourite courses usually not this time. Recent prolonged dry and hot weather has taken its toll. Fairways generally fairly hard as no irrigation. Tee boxes unacceptably hard. Greens ok. Bunkers - sand almost not existent. To boot there was a large society in front of us who were very slow, so we did not play all 18, we had to chop and change with regards to the holes we played. Disappointing.
Nice course with very good staff
Overall a really nice golf club with a well-kept course and lovely bar/restaurant area. Excellent choice of food and drink at very reasonable prices. Greens in good condition but tougher to read than they first appear. Only negative was lack of sand in some of the greenside bunkers. Would definitely recommend this course to golfers of all standards.
Lovely set out course
Course had some great holes that were laid out well. Picturesque course with some lovely scenery. Greens were a little inconsistent and tee off areas a little rough and hard. Was greeted with a really great welcome from the lady in the pro shop. Overall a nice coyrse to play and would recommend it to try.
Need more signage
A very nicely set golf club. It was Me and my friends first time playing here. None of the holes had just a basic number to tell which hole you was playing. We managed to come up the 15th instead of the 5th and then totally missed out 9,10 and 11 because we were simply guessing where the next hole was as there was no indication as to where to go next and with no map on the scorecard either we were completely lost. Regardless we carried on and found this was a challenging course. Some very nice food after at a very reasonable price in the clubhouse .
Poor Condition
The course was in a very in poor condition with mud all over the fairways and the round was held up by very slow play. Played course several times before and was looking to becoming a member but have chosen to keep looking for a new membership.
Very enjoyable
We arrived for our round to a very warm welcome in the pro shop.
It had been very wet and the course was pretty damp under foot, however it was clearly in great condition as it stood up to it well.
The layout of the course is great, very challenging in places but good for all levels.
Great day and easy to book
Played here lots of times and always enjoy it. First time I've booked through TeeTimes and it was really easy and a great price
Good course set in a beautiful location
I have played Colne Valley a couple of times as I use to live in Colne Engaine.
The course is set in a beautiful valley location with great views. The golf course itself is in good condition, with very few bad parts and GUR.
The course has a good layout and has a number of different style of holes which makes it interesting to play. It's tight in places and requires course management.
On this occasion, the greens were extremely hard and not receptive at all. Despite still being lush and green, a ball thrown in with a PW would bounce and roll on another 30yds past the flag due to this. I learnt this after a few holes and played up short. Coupled with the undulating greens, this made for a real test of my short game and a score card killer.
Maybe, a little watering would help?
Overall, a positive experience at Colne Valley. The view from the Club house is tops.
Set in beautiful countryside
The course was in very good condition, the greens where very well manicured and looked after. The only fault I can say is that the bunkers could of been racked over after all the rain we had on Thursday and had some water in them still. Apart from that the course was great. And will look forward to playing it again.
