I needed a local round of 18 that would not take up the whole day and this course was ideal in that it is only about 5,500 yards, has challenging holes as well as feel good recovery holes ideal for a twenty something handicapper like me after a quick fix. Have already recommended and would definitely visit again.

A lack of spring rain hasn't helped, but despite this the course was in poor condition - mist tees were heavily pitted with deep divots and lack of grass especially on the front nine. The greens were very mixed and where drainage work had been done last year the tram lines are bad and rutted.
With no fairway watering its no surprise they're browning and lack growth.

Hills and Crossovers

Coombe Wood is a very friendly course and the golf offers a great variety of challenges. For the long drivers there are times to draw the big stick and times to opt for a different club.

The pro shop staff are very friendly and offer great tips for your round so well worth chatting before you get out on the course! The front nine are based on a broadly flat area with a few undulations to offer a challenge for those with a more wayward approach to their drives. The course also crosses over itself at various points and there are a number of narrow fairways so be careful where you're hitting your shots and don't be afraid of unleashing a loud FORE!

The back nine is a big change to the front. Set on a hill its a real challenge for your club selection as you take into account the extra distance or shortened ball flight for the ups and downs.

All in all, a very nice course offering plenty of variety and challenges for those of any standard.

Coombe Wood Review

Really enjoyed the course. The pace of play was excellent. Got around with a friend in 2 hrs and 45 minutes

Some holes cross each other but if you accept this you will enjoy your round. Nice, challenging 18th hole
