Friendly golf
Green have been treated and still true and in good shape
Great Fun In The Sun!
The course was bone dry after several weeks of little rain. You certainly got value for your shots, as the ball would run on and on! The downside was that your shot, upon landing on the hard ground, could often take a very nasty kick. The greens had been lightly dusted with sand to slow them down a little. I thought this was a good idea and they played at a consistent pace all the way around. Despite the course being busy, the pace of play wasn't too bad and, being a 2-ball, a couple of groups in front of us were courteous enough to wave us through.
The clubhouse facilities are excellent and you could quite happily bring friends/family here for food and drinks without the need to play golf.
All in all, a very enjoyable experience and I'd happily recommend playing here.
Great value for money course
Great value for money course, a good test for your average golfer, greens are a little furry and bobbly which would be my only criticism, apart from that was a great round in the sun
Shame about the foul mouths in the club and course
Lovely staff very helpful, just a shame about the foul language on the course and in the clubhouse, I don't expect that kind of language at work, which is shipbuilding.
Easy laid out course - open good fairways
I’m a high cap player so the course for me is easily playable- wide open and quite forgiving. It has some tricky holes but nothing too challenging, so very enjoyable course
Tricky greens.
Very tricky greens with slopes and running very quick. Not many straight putts.
Great course
Enjoy the course a lot. Fairly forgiving but also presents a few challenges. Great tee boxes
Beautiful course
Had the pleasure of playing here for the first time on Monday. The weather was fantastic and the course was in such great condition, the staff were very friendly and helpful on arrival, and accomodating as we were late to tee off because of an accident on the way in. Fairways and greens were perfect. Club house bar was well stocked also with friendly staff, we enjoyed a few drinks on the terrace watching the players come in on the 18th. Highly recommended, can't wait to play again.
Crane Valley Main Course
Generous fairways on most holes, but still has a few challenges to offer. Probably a few too many bunkers/ hazards around the 200yd mark which would bore good golfers and frustrate average golfers. But, overall, a good and intesrting course.
A little known gem of a course
From the very first hole, it'll be easily realised that the fairways are as important as the greens. You won't be disappointed@
spur of the moment
i last played this course in December where the course had really suffered due to the heavy rainfall.roll forward to sunday the course had dried out nicely with a few soft patches dotted about.
crane valley has a good course layout where course management is key..
the greens were probably the worst part of the course, all the greens are diseased with scaring. although theres evidence of treatments putting is difficult as the ball bobbles and bounces across the bare patches.
for me this course is great value for money, a good test of golf and once the green keepers get ontop of the greens will be worth a revisit. the facilities inc driving range, large putting green, 18 and 9 hole courses plus footgolf. well kept changing facilities, a well stocked proshop with friendly staff and a reasonably priced bar
Wait for the better weather
This is a good course with good facilities and friendly staff but is not in the best condition due to the wet conditions of late.
It’s a good value course but certainly not in its current state so I would wait until the course dried out.
We will definitely be back during better times.
Lost 4 balls on or around the fairways as plugged which is annoying.
Great course friendly staff only let down was a members competition which resulted in very slow play there was 3 groups on 1 tee box most of the round it didn't help letting 2balls play I would recommend in future only allowing 3/4 balls after competition so you don't get the same problems, would definitely play again but not same day as competitions
Some improvement but greens still struggling
Used to be a member, they are trying hard and making improvements to tees, paths, thinning some of the wooded areas etc and will all pay dividends in summer but greens still covered in bare patches from disease in autumn. Hopefully will grow in soon and get course back up to a solid 7/10 and good value.
Too slow/trouble
Ok , I like crane valley but on this occasion it wasn’t great, played in a 4 ball who were held up by very slow play by 4 ball in front( buggy)
And harassed by an irate 2 ball behind us who couldn’t understand why we weren’t hitting( they couldn’t see beyond the dogleg that the players in front were still putting ) anyway after 4 holes we had a chat and explained as could be seen that we couldn’t play any quicker as the 4 ball in front had just teed off , everything was good and we teed off up the fairway , all in play , my friend had walked to his ball to take his 2nd shot on the 5th hole when the 2 lads behinds ball almost hit him , hit his bag, ridiculous after the chat we’d just gad , so much anger from him , lad behind couldn’t give a monkeys about it, almost a scrap, so it was just too busy , couple other guys who were members at bulbury walked off it was that slow, the 2 lads behind actually also left after the 5th ? Good, shame they cram too many on, every club guilty of it at this time of year though!!!!
