Good course
Windy day.
Greens very decent for time of year.
Challenging back nine.
Countryside course in London.
Really enjoyable.
Great design
Very good course design, unfortunately there was still quite a lot of casual water, greens still not what they can be but I'm pretty sure it will improve fast
Nice club, lack of challenge
The club house, car park, staff and facilities were nice. On a Summers day a really pleasant place to be. A balcony overlooking the 1st tee box and the 18th green with patio chairs was a nice touch. The course itself had very little challenge. Almost all holes are very straight. The greens were in good condition but I was surprised by the fairways. Horizontal bumps that I don't know if they were put in intentionally or not made walking the course with a trolley difficult, I don't know how the buggies would have been driven. This is the second time I've played this course. I enjoyed the round but I doubt I'd recommend or suggest going to friends.
Peaceful
Lovely tranquil mature course. Varied holes, challenging par 3s. Pretty much had the course to ourselves Tuesday afternoon. Great 19th hole bar and veranda looking out over the course.
You should note the course fairways are mildly undulating - not any bother to me.
Biggest grouch - the lack of sand in all the bunkers. Rock hard and should be gur.
Bumpy fairways and guy in pro-shop has issues
They have, what I assume, are drainage channels through the fairways (golf course is on a hill) so even if you're hitting it straight you have uneven lies all the time on the 2-3 yard wide bumps. It gets quite annoying over time.
The guy in the pro shop gave us no end of stick for booking through GolfNow (it wasn't even a hot deal). Saying "they would've charged us the same money". I get it, but if it wasn't for GolfNow we would've never come there.
Exceptional course
Having driven past the bottom of cattlegate Road for nearly 20 years watching people tee off what i think I'd the 11th I always wondered. However always thought it was private members.
Well, what can I say I loved the test undulating fairways very tricky greens and the whole course in excellent condition. Will be my regular course from now. Absolutely loved it
Top course - excellent condition
Can’t wait for a summers day return here. Immaculate condition despite poor weather
Excellent value
Given its February we were very impressed with the conditions. Greens were fast and mostly true. Bunkers were all maintained and playable. Very few damp areas on or off fairways. Friendly pro shop and bar area. Definitely will want to play here more often.
Excellent course even under winter conditions
Great round for four of us. We really enjoyed the challenge. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made you feel welcome. Definitely going back to play again. Would love to play it in the summer
Good but ………
Played Crews Hill early yesterday morning. Course was very quiet so our 2-ball went round with no-one in front or behind us. Given the time of year, course was in reasonable condition. Fairways were decent but greens were absolutely soaking wet. Biggest complaint was the “over enthusiastic” green keepers who followed us for most of the round and continued mowing and blowing leaves all the time when we were playing shots and putting. And they even managed to run over my playing partner’s ball when it was clearly visible on the green fringe! Golf etiquette is important for players but should be equally so for the course staff too!
Best winter conditions
Iv played 4 different courses this winter. This course had the best conditions for me in december and i had a decent round. Played better than usual
Great course well maintained
Even with all the rain the course was still playable. The fairways were a bit boggy to be expected and the greens were fine. People working there were helpful and friendly. Nice.
Really good course
Great tee boxes and fairways… greens were fast and clearly well looked after. Overall a great course and I had a great round. Looking forward to visiting again.
A Tale of Slow Play
When I got to the tee, I was greeted by a two-ball who said they were waiting for one more and that I could go ahead of them. I said "thank you" and proceeded to get ready, which today included setting up my camera for filming. As soon as they saw this, they were like "nevermind" and their mate turned up and hit his tee shot. Then the 4th member of their 3-ball arrived and teed off. I couldn't protest because they had booked ahead of me so it was their prerogative.
I wound up playing the front nine on and off with the guy behind me who I had let go ahead of me believing they would let him play through. They did not. We did this in an attempt to avoid slow play behind us. We were somewhat successful.
He gave up after 9. I played on to see if they would finish their round in daylight. They eventually let me through on 12. Turns out the 3-ball ahead of them were playing slowly, which was strange because I had not seen them until that point. That group let me through on 13 and it was plain sailing from there.
The course itself was rather boggy. The greens were in a reasonable shape but everywhere else was awful. There isn't much that can be done about that though.
A good test in places
Didn't get to see much of the front 9 as weather was foggy but the back 9 was great, a good test. Greens were excellent for a wet November , fairways were pretty decent but tricky in places.
The pace of play is quite slow here , but take nothing away from the course I look forward to going back. The young lady who worked there displayed excellent customer service. I would highly recommend this course definitely worth a bash.
Good greens
Played here few times before and will keep coming back!
Great value for money!
