Nice medium length course , friendly holes , few meaningful hazards
Slow golf
What a pity that the pace of play round this lovely course was painfully slow. The people using the course had no concept of course etiquette.
The layout is great, I really enjoyed the course and it certainly suited my game.
Good course but first green shared with 9 th so holds up pace of play.
Very nice layout apart from that.
wheres the grass?
not sure if this place is shutting down? The greens were truly awful, bald patches, uneven growth and cutting. Layout was actually interesting however the condition was so poor, it hardly resembled a golf course.
Friendly enough staff however you can tell they are flogging a dead horse.
Winter round
A winter round on a bright day. Course is in good condition for the time of year, a little heavy/muddy in parts. Fairways were good but a little spring grass growth will help. Good ground keeping evident and ongoing with most leaves removed which is a blessing at this time of year. The greens were generally in good condition but resited holes needed the last ones to be filled back in with the new cores on a number of the holes. Staff and other course users were very pleasant throughout.
Overall a great day out.
Nice paced round of golf
Bright and sunny with a chilly wind sometimes gusting strongly straight at you down the fairway leaving well struck drives landing short. The course was quite boggy in places and some rather shoddy temporary tees had to be used.
It's a well laid out course with some challenging par 5's and two very long par 3's.
Staff were welcoming on arrival and on departure. Did not use facilities so cannot comment on those on this visit.
Beginners beware!
Pace of play was fast as your pushed along by those behind which doesn't leave much time for finding balls in the 2nd cut which is fairly deep and very unforgiving. Long drives mixed up with some Par 3 irons mixes the play up. Look to stick to quiet periods unless your average or better.
Range was £1.50 for 20 balls to warm up with a chipping and putting green as a bonus. Bar was cheap for bottled ciders after a warm morning and was a refreshing 19th.
After some overnight and early rain the course was still in great playing condition.
The last 7 holes are particularly nice
Terrible Night
Turned up to the golf shop and it was closed. After traveling an hour with no signs. The course was in terrible condition and there was no way to get a refund
Too close
Greens and the following Tee-boxes are too close to each other, so it is extremely dangerous. In fact, I witnessed how a ball hit the head of a player in front of me, while he was teeing off. I won't play there again.
Excellent
Really enjoyed playing
The course was in great condition
Some lovely holes and one or two were a great test
Slow play at Darlington
Course was in average condition for our round - greens were very inconsistent with some very slow and others running at medium pace - intermediate rough hadn't been cut recently which made locating and hitting balls harder than it should be. Back nine in better condition and more fun to play than front nine. Pace of play was poor - we caught up with a 4 ball that teed off 40 minutes ahead of us by the time we reached the 3rd hole - they eventually let the group in front of us play through but we weren't waived through and had to pace ourselves for the remainder of the round - 15 minutes to put and get off the green is ridiculous - the club needs to address slow play, course maintenance issues and reduce the green fee if they want to attract more visitors.
Great Course
Tee off time set for 4.10pm. Pro was conducting junior coaching at the time so pro shop was closed. Due to this we were unable to find a scorecard (until 12th hole where we found one on the floor a generous golfer left behind). Other than this the course itself was absolutely beautiful with some stunning holes which test your course management and are easily navigated. 100% recommended to other golfers
