Not ready yet
Played this course a lot over the past couple of years and love it.
At the moment though the greens are poor, not sure why they are so patchy and long.
Fairways were the same, bunkers very inconsistent with sand levels varying a lot though out the course.
Drink in the bar after (two pints of larger and a Guinness) was over £20. Although for our southern friends this may be ok, but we’re just outside Crewe.
After all the above, I will be back and hopefully this was just earlier season blues.
Tough course
Not really my type of course. I don't mind the challenge but I lost so many balls with what I thought were ok shots. Bunkers were poor with what looked like poor quality sand, greens bumpy. Some fabulous holes to be fair but distance between holes seemed excessive.
A great course to play
Highly recommend anyone of all standards to play this course. Excellent course with brilliant facilities. I look forward to returning. It was a very good test of a golf with a nice variety of holes.
Lovely maintained course
Great course and the views. However clearer signage for the next tee could be helpful as if you've not been before you can sometimes have a choice of which way to head too.
Wow
Last played here 10 years ago it has matured to an absolute gem best course in the north by far
Good place to spend a day for fun
Whilst the day we played wasn’t a great weather day, the course was in better condition than many others in the north west currently. What was clear was the potential, a few more weeks and Wychwood will be playing at a great standard. The course was already clearly being sculpted, fairways definition, green aprons etc were clearly maturing well. We will go back again in about 3/4 weeks and are confident the rating will be 5 stars by then.
What a course
Great course plenty of good deals for tee times. All holes great challenge really enjoyed the course and the club house will 100% play here again.
A boggy slog
Friendly welcome in pro shop.
Of course, while a degree of sogginess would be expected at this time of year in the UK, this course seemed to suffer a lot more than most and seems to have been exacerbated by the traffic through the course with multiple visible track marks and poorly maintained divots.
Fairways in poor condition. Terrible bunkers.
Lots of long walks from greens to tees, and clearly designed with buggies in mind.
A few good holes, particularly around water features, but likely contributing to the difficult conditions..
We were also greeted by a 3 ball on the tenth tee trying to get out for 9 holes - I can imagine that this could readily lead to some slow rounds
Excellent course no winter restrictions
This course is worth a few £ extra as its fully open - regular tees and greens, and its a very good course to play. Other courses may offer cheaper prices but then you find its winter tees and greens, very boggy, or will close at short notice. Wychwood is a quality course, well maintained, and a good challenge to play.
Wychwood Park Review
Overall very pleasant experience from all aspects and course generally in excellent condition considering the recent exceptionally wet weather and the time of year from all aspects and great value for money. Would definitely play again.
5hr round - super slow.
We tee'd off at 0810 in the hope of getting through for around 1215 but that was definitely not the case. After catch the group in front on the third hole we asked to play through on the 5th as they never mentioned anything only to be told 'If you are not in a competition you can wait your turn'. Full round time was 5hrs and 2mins, at one point there were 4 groups on one hole.
Wychwood Park
Thoroughly enjoyed this brilliant course!! Would highly recommend it to anyone!!
