Great course for the beginners!
My first time at this course and if I wanted to go out a post a decent score, then this would be the place for the price. $25 on the weekend and they didn't bother pairing you up with anyone. Play at your own rate but have common sense and courtesy. The ground was not soft, except for the tee box at 18, which helped carry a lot of my shots. I wouldn't mind going back and would recommend it for those with higher handicaps. Very wide open course with no water hazards and limited bunkers.
Good for the Price
Decent layout, which is fairly easy. course condition isnt all that great, but not that terrible either. a lot of patches of dirt here and there, including the greens. But for the price, I'll be back.
Lost its luster
Second time playing this course in the last month. Not a great course by any means but it serves purpose to run through the paces. Played 5/29, 2 players, 18 holes. Booked through the site. My brother brought his wife. The course tried to charge an additional $20 simply to use a second cart. Paid for 2 players which apparently does not leave room for a second cart.
Good value
The golf course is not always in the best shape. This time when I played, the greens had just been plugged. It would of been nice if the staff inside would of gave me a heads up. Overall for the price it's a good practice course to play on.
Has a Great Time!
I wanted to play a round of golf on Saturday to Celebrate my Birthday on Friday so I booked Tee Time for Saturday and my Son and I had a wonderful time. This is the first golf course that I took my Son when he was around 12 years old so now that he is an adult it brings back good memories when we get to play there now.
You get what you pay for...
They try but the fairways are very hard and rocky. The greens are so bumpy and sandy, it is hard to really develop any kind of consistency. Good location in North Central San Antonio, but not really for a great golfing experience, but then again you are not paying for one either.
Great neighborhood course
Loved this course. We went through the week when there weren't many people there so we were able to take our time and enjoy the views. There was a good variety of challenging and straight forward holes. Good course for beginning golfers like me but also had some challenges to grow into. We will definitely go back when we are in the area.
Not much grass
I like the lay out of the course, but there is never much grass on the fairways. Most of the time you are hitting on rock or dirt.
Okay for practice. Staff not really friendly.
It's good if you live close and need to get out and practice for a couple of hours. Not all staff is friendly. They've seen you time and time again and still find reason to tell you not to tee off early even after you have paid through Golf Now. Really? That doesn't make me want to go back. You would think they would make you feel more wanted.
Affordable play
hard to beat for the price. They also have a nice two level driving range.
Surprisingly Bad
I was amazed at the poor condition of this course. Much of the fairways were hardpan or gravel and browned out. It looks like they are never watered--I didn't even see sprinkler heads. Greens were inconsistent and rough. Holes were poorly laid out, with no way to tell in which direction the green lay on several holes. Add to this the two drunk grandmothers who were excruciatingly slow we were behind and the six-some of drunk frat boys right behind us, and you get a miserable day. The holes are shoe-horned together and people are constantly in your fairway playing their bad shots. Luckily most of the golfers I saw were very bad, so you didn't have to worry about getting hit by someone's errant but long shot. Not a place for a serious round of golf. Even for the $20 I paid, it was overpriced. I have played extensively in West Texas and this course reminded me of some of the worst courses there. I wouldn't go back if it were free. The driving range, however, is very nice and the balls are reasonably priced. Not a bad place to practice, just don't play.
Unreal
This course is so amazing, especially when you love nailing your irons off rocks and denting them. Grass? What is that. If you need grass on a course this isn't for you. This course is for the person who loves hitting a great drive down the middle of the fairway and losing your ball, honestly what a great feeling. I love the type of weeds they use for the greens, it was pretty awesome seeing straight putts jump up in the air, and watch out for those mini built into the green sand traps, they'll eat your putt alive, this is what adds tremendous character to the course.
Good short game course
This is a pretty good course to work on your short game. Very friendly staff. Upkeep is kind of average. Some fairways were in pretty bad shape, but, I'll definitely play it again because the price was pretty good.
Beginners paradise
You don't have to self conscious at Alamo, just out and play.
Raincheck
Got two holes into my round before getting called into work. Went up to the clubhouse to see about getting a raincheck, since I paid for 18. Person working up at the front stated I could only get a raincheck for 9 holes since I already started my round. I could understand if I was more than halfway through the front nine, but losing out on 7 holes seems a little ridiculous. I frequent this place often, but may be looking somewhere else after my 9 hole raincheck
Fun Course
Thoroughly enjoyed playing this short but somewhat challenging little course. They need more signs or a map of the course; I got lost a couple of times. But, other than that, I had an enjoyable round. The staff was very friendly. I'll definitely go back to this course next time I'm in San Antone!
