Lots of off course walking
Had a great round the course was in great condition. The only criticism is the amount of walking between certain holes
Pretty good
Course held up well for the time of year. Greens, fairways and bunkers were good considering the recent rain and it being February. Imagine it issue very nice in the summer.
Pace of play was horrendously bad however. 5 hour round
Feb Golf
Considering the persistent rain 24hrs previously the course was wet underfoot on most holes but that didn’t impede good golf only distance with reduced roll out on fairways. The geese are nice to look at but have natural consequences when looking for and playing your ball on back nine holes near lakes. An enjoyable round followed a nice pint in the bar
So close to being just right. Needs eight weeks
Disclaimer - Played this course during winter conditions. The good: course layout is great. Challenging but fair. Things were a bit soggy but that’s expected. Bunkers are hard but understandable considering the unending rain. The bigger issue is the greens. Generally they are good but a handful have some bald spots which was likely a winter fungus issue. At least that’s what I’ve seen before. That said, the issue was clearly identified and being fixed. Once the weather warms up, I think this will clear up nicely and the greens will be amazing. Even with the greens I highly recommend the course and intent to play it a lot!!
Great course, very long
Course in fantastic condition, amazing views and great facilities, be prepared for very long walk and very long hard holes!
Fantastic course
Very very long and tough course to play in wet wintery conditions, some magnificent view on front nine holes too.
Good for time of year
Course held up well considering the current weather. Greens, fairways, bunkers all better than you would expect for Feb golf.
Pace of play was horrendous however. 5 hours to play a 3 ball, course was backed up and barely got round despite a 12:40 tee time
Very good course but hard
Playing this beast in the winter is a challenge but worth it. Very wet conditions still playable.
Loveky warm welcome on arrival and also in the bar after the round
We will be back but prob wait for some drier conditions
A long hard slog in wet conditions
We had previously played this course midsummer and had a very enjoyable round . This time played in late October and the course was very wet and soggy underfoot , many fairways had not been cut so there was no roll at all and this made a long course seem even longer. As the round progressed it just got tiresome and not enjoyable at all . The condition of the greens was still good though.
A lovely course....
A good find, fully playable despite the biblical rain in previous days, no plugged balls, wet under foot on areas but fully understandable given the conditions.
Course has a few long walks between holes, but allows a sense of peace. Was busy and slow at times, lots of backed up groups, but never more than another group ahead of the tees. Would love to try here in the dry.
Good pro shop, friendly lady and the greens are spot on, well done to the greenkeepers....thank you
Long but rewarding
This is a long but rewarding course. Expect to walk some distance between some tees (e.g. 8th to 9th is a couple of mins and likewise 9th to 10th). But the course is top notch (at least of the courses I’ve played). The greens are immaculate, the fairways are decently wide, the sands are big and there is the odd water hazard. Highly recommended. Just give yourself 4-5hrs.
Great day
Enjoyable day at Donnington grove. Fortunate to be playing the week after a pro qualifier immaculate.
Beautiful course, but long
The course was in great condition, but it was slow going, not helped by the hot conditions
All round good course
Me and a friend really enjoyed this course, we decided to walk and even though it was a long one, we enjoyed every minute of it. The only thing I can ask for is more par 3s but that is just a personal preference.
