SilverHorn Golf Club of Texas
About
Silverhorn Golf Club of Texas, located only 15 minutes from San Antonio's Riverwalk, has quickly gained a reputation as being some of the best golf in Texas. The layout covers 262 scenic acres of rolling hills covered in mature oaks and cedar trees. The challenging golf course features tree-lined fairways and carefully contoured greens. There are also lakes and creeks, both dry and wet, coming into play throughout the golf course. The front nine's signature hole is the par-5 sixth, which has 20 acres of water bordering the entire left side, while the back nine's signature is the par-4 15th, which is considered the toughest hole on the golf course. This 446-yard hole features an elevated green that is guarded by a large bunker on the left and two creeks crossing the fairway.

Only so-so
Course is great shape. But there are no amenities: no GPS, no water stations on the course, no ball washers. The pace of play is terrible and there are no Marshall’s to try and keep things moving.
The course was fine but pace of play was awful
It took me almost 4 hrs and 15 min to play 9 HOLES. That’s just absurd. The whole course was so backed up it was awful.
Over Priced
We booked a 2:30 tee time because we played The Quarry that morning. We got done sooner than expected and went to Silverhorn to see if they could move our time sooner and keep same rate. NO, some policy that doesn’t allow that. Okay, so instead of $45 plus tax, we paid the new fee of $95 plus tax. Absolutely not worth that kind of money. Food area is no better then a fast food restaurant but pricing was high and didn’t reflex that atmosphere. Was told beverage cart just left from 9 headed to 1 when we tee off. She was sitting under trees on her phone in-between 8 &9. It was over 100 degrees and we needed more water/gatorade. No water jugs on the course at all. Didn’t even see a place they would put them. Cart return is down a back alley area and dirty. Plenty of other courses in San Antonio area that are way better. Not worth the money at all and no plans or returning.
First Timer
Very good experience BUT…
On-course Bev cart service. 95° on course with humidity and she shows on 7 and is out of G-Zeros (boss tells her two a side, rest are G2s and Frosts) but has water thank goodness. However, on back, only shows once as well, I believe at 15. During the summer, if it’s under a high heat warning - and we went off at 850a - it’s hot. Need more frequent cart service. When we finished, about 130p, the bev cart was parked, the girl was having lunch, and it didn’t look restocked. Granted there were fewer on the course, but I guarantee you they were looking for her. Need one cart a side or more frequent runs in this weather.
Great course
Excellent course for the time of year. Greens are green and people are friendly!!
Excellent!
Our twosome played behind a fivesome. Some waiting but not much; pace if play was good. Course felt very uncrowded. Hardly saw any other players other than group in front of us. Beverage cart service was very friendly & professional. Stopped by us 4 times during our round.
Everything was great until I hit a wall of slow players
The front nine was in good shape considering the number of 100 degree (without rain) days. The greens rolled smooth and fairways were firm.
I made the turn in 1 1/2 hours and then hit a wall of slow players - 4 some, then a 5 some, then 2 players. It took 30 minutes to play one hole (#10) as a single. To play golf on a 100 degree day without any breeze at would have been on pace for a 3 - 3 1/2 hour nine is ridiculous. I left without seeing the rest of the back nine.
No course marshall to speed players through and courtesy to allow faster groups through? Obviously no one cared to show any golf etiquette.
