Canyon Springs Golf Club
About
Canyon Springs Golf Club is a true Hill Country course. You need to stay on the fairways or bring plenty of balls. Using an old farm to build on this choice piece of Texas real estate, this land has been artfully transformed into what many golfers will refer to as among the very best of what Texas has to offer. With five sets of tee boxes on each hole, demanding greens, natural Hill Country surroundings and magnificent limestone waterfalls on two holes, this 7,000-plus-yard course presents a significant challenge to event the most experienced golfers (and even those who think they are).

Beware of Paint!!!
Played Canyon Springs (CS) many times in the past but this time was not a very good experience. First, the ENTIRE course (Fairways, rough, and greens) are OVERLY painted a green/blue color!!!! It was impossible to read any kind of put since the greens looked like spots on a leopard. Second, the staff is not able to comprehend that when someone says good morning you typically say something back!...... Third and final, the cost for playing here with the course in this bad of shape is unfair! 79.00 is waaaayyyy too much.
Hi dcZZMct2yCUfQ06ayZqI, thanks so much for rating us. Is there anything you’d like to share that we can pass along to the team?
Great shape
Course was in great shape, especially with the weather being inconsistent. Greens were challenging and made for an interesting round. I would recommend others to go play.
Hi Zsalinas21, thank you so much for your kind review! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the course and found the greens challenging. We appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back for another great round soon!

Nice course
The course was challenging and fun to play good hazard placement. Pins were sometimes tough and hilly. Greens were soft and fast. Overall a fun but challenging day. Staff was nice and friendly.
Thank you, u314161747813, for your positive review! We're glad to hear that you found our course challenging and enjoyable. We appreciate your feedback on hazard placement and the condition of the greens. Our staff takes pride in providing friendly service. We hope to see you again soon!
Good outing!
Course n greens ( fast) are n very good condition! Pace of play was like a broken down snail!
Hi Darrin, thank you for your feedback! We're glad you found our course and greens in great condition. We apologize for the slower pace of play and will work on improving it. We appreciate your support and hope to see you again soon!
Good course in spite of hard greens
It just took a little rain to bring it back to top condition. However, a strong north wind makes it doubly difficult since it was designed for the prevailing Southeast wind here.
Only gripe is the greens replaced a couple of years ago are still rock hard and won't hold more than a 9-iron.
Greens are very fast with subtle breaks. It is very important to be in the right portion of the green to avoid 3-putts.
Excellent Course
I really enjoyed Canyon Springs. The greens were extremely fast, which was cool, but was challenging with all the undulations within them. I highly recommend this course. My only critique is that around the greens and in some areas off the greens, there was a lot of water that made spots unplayable or wouldn't allow you to run shots up to the greens which were firm and fast.
All I have to say is WOW!!!
If you are looking for a challenge in the San Antonio area and a course that is in outstanding conditions, then look no further. I have recently relocated to the area and am an avid golfer. All I can say, is that I will be back!
Here's my evaluation:
1. Clubhouse - fully stocked and staff very helpful and friendly
2. Warm up area - nice, but you have to hit off of mats vs. turf. There are plenty of stations though and warm up balls were in good condition too. There is a large putting green and it rolled pretty true to real course conditions. I did not see a chipping or bunker area though to practice those critically important shots.
3. Course - All I can say is WOW! - Out of all the courses I have played in the San Antonio area (The Quarry, Olmos Basin, Brackenridge, Golf Club of Texas, La Cantarra, etc) this course is one of the best. I would put it in the same category as the Quarry for conditions and difficulty. Green complexes were as challenging as Olmos Basin. The only negative I would say is that the bunkers were a little rough and there were some overwatered areas near some of the greens (aka - squishy) - but nothing to the point of unplayable.
4. I saw comments about the starter, but the gentleman, David, that started us was friendly and extremely helpful to let us know the conditions and limitations for the day.
5. Refreshments - Saw water cans on multiple holes. Cost for a hotdog and drink was reasonable for a golf course and quality was good too. Hot dog was fresh, bun was soft. I saw a drink cart twice, which was OK.
6. Discounts - They offer military discounts too, but I got my tee time on Golfnow as a hot tee time, so I saved more that way.
Negatives:
I saw no Marshalls to help pace of play, but those groups that I came up on, playing as a single after the first nine, let me play through and were very friendly. Ended up playing my round in 3 hours and 15 minutes.
Thanks for an awesome experience.
